Hi guys,

I got a Dreambox. Huh...
I was really trying to find the answer all around the internet, guides and everywhere, but apparently, guides describe what to do, just when everything is OK. Also they make sense to somebody, who knows DMs :(

I don't know how to set it up. I have no channels, I cannot watch anything...
I read many tips and helps, but for somebody who doesn't have a clue... Yes, you can ask why I did buy 7025+, when I have no clue, but this is the only one way how to start.

I cannot manage set up the Box. It came with some kind of set up, but I did factory reset and now there is no list of channels at all.
I want to do a scan, but this screen appears.
View attachment 27499
It runs on LT 5.

Also many times, when I mess around in the menu I get this screen:
View attachment 27500
and then DM gets restarted. May this be because of pre-loaded image, or faulty DM?

I have UPC Direct Slovakia card, which I pay monthly. It works on Cryptoworks.
I need just to set it up for this.
Could somebody advise how to start? Where to start? Even just a clue.
My girlfriend is pretty p/st off with me, I really need to solve this ASAP

Does anybody live around Nuneaton / Coventry?

I would really appreciate your ideas. Please, don't judge me, nobody came to this world as an expert

Hello

Welcome to the forum nyrethym

I have uploaded your photgraphs to our server and reduced them from the 10 MB files that filled up two computer screens by running through pixresizer. It is free, just google it. Please upload any further photos to our server

I notice from your profile details system setup and first post there is no mention of a dish and lnb so first things first have you got a dish and lnb and if so what satellite is it pointing at?

You need to have a good read of this

and also this section

Hi Topper,

I appreciate you help. I got a Dreambox just 2 days ago and it is huge BANG. Absolutely no clue what is going on. Also slight feeling of the pressure, because I bought my DreamBox from eBay and seller claims, that is is 100% original, not a clone. I want to test it ASAP (I hope you understand).
I read DCG's "Quick and dirty guide to Dreambox ", it really makes sense. I ordered some cables and hopefully will be able to do something about my DM, to be able to watch programs which I already pay for.
In the time I ill update my profile. I can see the point, why I need to put there as much relevant info as possible.

Thank you, I'll keep searching, learning, trying to understand. It's a challenge.

Thanks for the patience, it will take some time :)

Hi Nyrethym,
As topper mentioned, you have not told us what your dish setup is. Do you have your dish pointed at the right satellite, along with all the required cabling etc?

The basics of what you need to do are as follows. Take it one step at a time and you'll get there.
1: Align your dish to the right satellite.
2: Flash your box with a decent image. (I recommend Nabilosat images).
3: Scan the satellite for the services you require.
4: Set up a softcam that can read/decode your UPC card (also known as an EMU or cam). I think CCcam is ok for your card.

There are guides that cover all of the above here on the forum.

Good luck :)

nyrethym: The satellite you need to point at is 23.5 east(if it is really a Slovak card). This poses a problem in the UK (I notice that is where you are) as the signal from this satellite is VERY weak. This means you need at least a 90cm dish and the dish has to be alligned VERY accurately. Even then you might find that if there are a lot of clouds the picture might break up. You would be better off getting UPC from 19.2 east satellite, but the subscription for that is Czech (I think), not Slovak. It really depends on which UPC card you have. The 19.2 east satellite does not broadcast all the channels that you get on 23.5 east satellite: STV3 is not there as well as some other channels.
As a mater of fact you are further north and further west than me, so the signal will be even weaker where you are.
My girlfriend is Slovak, so I have been around this loop.
Good luck with setting up your dish - that will be the difficult part and if you have not done this before, I strongly suggest you get a professional to install the dish for you. The better solution will be to try and get a subscription for 19.2E UPC as the 19.2E satellite signal is strong in the UK.

As a side note: When the signal for a channel is weak, you will find that sometimes the dreambox will crash(your second picture) when you try to tune to the channel. This is a long standing problem on most Linux based STBs.

The best dish setup for me is using a multi-bracket that allows me to point at 28.2, 23.5, 19.2 and 13 east satellites and using a diseqc switch between the four LNBs. This means that switching between satellites is instant - you dont have to wait for the motor to move the dish. However, if you want more satellites then you will have to install a motorised dish (more expensive and more difficult). The cost for a 90cm dish, diseqc switch and 4 LNBs is about £150 from here:

Thanks guys, I'm really impressed with your effort to help me.

I have updated some details about myself.

I got the LAN cable, so now I can access DM from PC. I have done some work on it.
Obviously I need to put all details together and then ask you for more help. I want to give you exact description of the problem. Currently I'm very busy, so just ignore my question for few days.

Many many thanks guys.

Hi guys,

The situation got improved a lot.

The only one problem which I have is, that I cannot check, if my DM is genuine. On the internet I saw 1000 times advise to follow easy manual from Dream multimedia web page. But it doesn't work!

I flashed DM 7025+ with the image from their web side. Now, by pressing blue button I should get a menu and one of options should be "genuine test" or something similar, what should generate a number, which I type into DM web page. Yes, sounds simply enough, but there is no such an option.

Any ideas?

Many many thanks

Please don't advise me to not bother if the box is genuine or not, I bought it just recently and I have paid for Original box (and therefore I expect original). If it wouldn't be, I would send it back.

Many thanks
