Swiss public broadcaster SRG announced the launch of another program in high definition ( HDTV ). In March 2015 will be running a news and information channel SRF Info HD , which is currently available only in classical SD resolution.
SRG also reported that on February 29, 2016 will be terminated SD satellite distribution programs SRF 1, SRF zwei, SRF info, RTS Un, Deux RTS, RSI LA 1 and RSI LA second Disconnecting SD version covers only some 15 percent of Swiss households that track domestic programming via satellite. Households will have about 14 months to exchange older SD receivers for a new one.
Currently, all major SRG programs broadcast via satellite system Eutelsat Hot Bird ( 13 ° E ) simultaneously in SD and HD resolution. Programs are due to restrictions on broadcasting rights coded system Viaccess. Partly freely transmits only news channel SRF Info.
