A bit off topic but if you mean electronics, there are several makers of 'boutique' guitar amplifiers (using valves) in the UK. Cornell being one of the biggest....but I think the days of mass market production of consumer goods has long since 'gone east'.....bit like Paul's motor in more ways than one....

Well, i rang the company today and spoke to a helpful lady. She said she would get in touch with their techical people while i waited on the phone. Anyhow 10 seconds later she said they were busy and could i ring them later this afternoon . I said i could, so she gave me the number which started with 0900 etc. I said hang on , thats a premium rate number isnt it, to which she replied yes it was but she couldnt do anything about that. I thought thats bang out of order, they should be ringing me if they are interested in keeping their customer satisfied. But then it dawned on me, i got it through Am**on which gives me 30 days to return it with a refund. So i've arranged that and now got another coming on 24hr courier from System ***Direct. Should have gone direct to a sat supplier in the 1st place really. So all being well it should Friday or at the latest Saturday.

Indeed ,a question for you with the F3, is it worth scanning some sats with usals and then scanning in others with diseqc1.2,can this be done?

As far as I know, yes: You can apply different DiSEqC features on a Satellite by Satellite basis.

On both of mine, I use USALS and DisEqC 1.1 Port A for all but 28E and Port B to pick up a feed from a fixed dish for 28E.

Not tried 1.2 positioning, but I can't see why it wouldn't work for selected Satellites with others on 1.3/USALS.

Assuming you want to do this for trimming marginal Birds, if it turns out it won't work as you wish, you can always alter the stored Azimuth for the relevant Bird instead.

Yes, i might give it a try, i didnt know how really accurate usals was when searching for weaker sats.

What would the point be? If the dish is set up right it would hit each satellite in the identical spot.

Shouldn't be a problem - even if you use USALS across the arc, the only time it may not be sufficiently accurate is if (when!) the motor slips round the pole and/or motor backlash kicks in: But then you'd have the same problem with 1.2.

In the former case (USALS), you can correct a small physical inaccuracy (say up to 0.5 deg) by altering your Longitude to compensate.

Ah okay, well this motorized stuff is all new to me, i read that usals can be out slightly at the ends of the arc, is this true or is the setup marginally off in the 1st place?

I run from 58W to 39E with perfect tracking (The restricted Eastern limit is due to lack of line of sight).

I agree with tivu 100% if you find the tracking is out using usals just change your settings by 0.1 degree at a time, if its still not tracking correctly its back to 0.8 and tweak. then try again :-),

Set up correctly, USALS is 100% accurate. My current installation is spot on - I didn't even have to enter false coordinates to track the arc correctly!

I found that on most installations if it is setup correctly first time and is spot on the ARC the switching between both USALS and Diseqc 1.2 should make no difference.

I should hope so ..................

False coordinates are a palliative for hard to get at for installations that become displaced after strong winds (Or the motor backlash becomes an issue) - I should very much recommend the initial install is spot on and adequately secure. Sadly, however, many do subsequently shift and the proper response is obviously to go up and realign then take steps to ensure it doesn't move again >> But most of us are lazy or busy and trimming the Longitude is an Armchair task!

I was concerned about putting a clamp nearer the top course of bricks.
