The Passion+ records yet another non-standard .ts file - what's with these nerds????

I like the simple life. A bit of BBC HD, ITV HD and the supporting broadcast crap that goes with it.

But lo and behold... yet ANOTHER non-standard transport stream file type.

The transport stream file produced by the Passion+ is outrageously out of order. While CoreAVC does a beautiful job of decoding the file in Media Player, no PC video demuxers or editors will touch it. None. I've tried transcoders (Project X), editors, TMPGEnc, VLan, VLC doodah and some sh*t called GOM (but that wouldn't even load).

Does anyone else have a solution that they have tried?

Oh, and a further prob regards the fact that the Passion+ only saves a lame stereo audio - meaning that surround is out.

So an STB with PVR that only records HD in stereo?????

I think you will find that Total Video Player will play the Fortec *.ts file on your PC, whilst Total Video Converter will convert it into almost any other format that you may want, including mpeg.
