Hello One & All.

Can someone tell me how to get video files off a hard-drive connected to my receiver, please? I have recorded some films & would like to put them onto dvd discs.

I could do it from the same drive when it was connected to my old TM6900, but this time, I'm stumped! The saved files are in a totally different file format, now.

I would preferably like to put them onto my Mac, ready for burning, but a PC solution would do.

Many thanks in advance,

Woody.

How is the hard drive formatted ?

Somewhere on the forum is a suggestion only FAT32 formatted drives will allow straight transfer of recordings, but I also recall somebody mentioning non official firmware (patches) in some receivers prevent the content from being transferred over.

Hello CH. Thanks for the reply.
It doesn't seem to matter whether I format the HD using the receiver or a pc. The recording saved files are all the same.
They can always be copied/moved to the mac or pc, but I've yet to find a way of using the files. Of course, they will play back through the receiver with no problem!

Hello CH. Sorry for the delay. Damn work....always gets in the way!!
My old TM6900 used to save files in the .trp format, & there is software which can handle those (like iSkysoft for Mac).
However, this TM6902 saves movies as split files, with extensions .001, .002, & so on.
It also saves the first (.001) split file as a .ts file. I can use this with many editing & burning softwares, but it is the subsequent split files which baffle me.

You should be able to rename the .001, .002, etc files to something1.ts, something2.ts, etc to view/edit them.

If you have lots of split .ts files then a simple batch file will join these into one large .ts file that can be converted to any format you like with encoding software

Thanks, everyone. I will get to sorting these files out when I get the chance (probably over Easter!).
One thing I really like about this forum is that there are so many people who are willing to help & give advice. Cheers!
