Rebroadcasting and streaming of these 27.5 services is happening on an industrial scale, and a few people are making large amounts of money.
Yep, it's always those that want to make money out of this that ruin it for everyone else (just like CS) and knowing it'll screw those guys for a while is the only satisfaction I'll have when the BBC move to a more secure encryption.

Well, those iptv or rebroadcasters services who also show Channel 5 can't be getting their source signal from the 27.5W feed(because it's not there),so it's the FTA feed from 2E/2F they are using.

Looking at it from another angle, how would most people on this site feel like if they could only get the sats aimed at the uk. What if the whole of europe and further went on to narrow beams, be alot of sat equipment for sale ! You could call it an infringement on your human rights, as it would restrict you from taking part in your leisure time hobby:eek:

Its been going that way for at least 12 years - it was planned as far back as 2002 when Astra 1K had 2 none overlapping beams with frequency reuse on them which would have destroyed any chance of any reception of stuff on the other beam.

Eut 9B will have 4 narrow beams which will severely restrict channel availablility.

And look how tight the beam is on Soarsat of Eut KaSat

In this game what will be will be - you accept what the current technology (transmit & receive) allows you to watch

any free to air channel can be tranmitted around the world in 2 seconds ,so stopping the reach of satellite is over a decade to late .

Maybe now but the technology want up to it a decade ago.

i though the re-use of the same freqencies on a satellite was to allow more channels to be broadcast and not to do stopping europa viewing ??

It was/is but it would have had the same effect to us enthusiasts who want to get everything going thats theoretically available in our skies.

All illegal IPTV services do is spoof the IP address and sell you a list you could get yourself for free, by spoofing your own IP address its just a big con, don't fall for it,

There is a free VPN type of programme that will work to a certain degree google Hola, org if that does not work install XBMC on your laptop/computer/get a raspberry PI/pay a few $ for you own VPN.

Mod. Note: Whilst IPTV is an interesting area, can we please remember this long established Thread is about the ability or otherwise to receive the Satellite Feeds from 27.5W.

We do have an IPTV Section (somewhere!) for those who want to discuss valid issues regarding that.

Edit: Here it be

Sometimes channel names appear that are actually empty and don't broadcast anything.

Film4+1 recently moved to the DVB-T2 HD mux, I wonder if it is anything to do with that as an empty place holder.

I must try that one. There are a couple of other channels that I've never been able to use - UTV HD and STV HD. I think I read somewhere they were different in some way. BlindFaith, are you able to get a picture on those channels?

If you mean by different that there are no streams, you're right ;)

Just bought a new sat meter to facilitate getting things set up for Intelsat 907 reception while out and about - a SatLink WS-6933. It's the cheapest in the Satlink range and cost jsut €65 on ebay. Despite its cheap look and feel (compared to a Satlook Lite) it makes life a lot easier as it can deal with S2 and the high symbol rate. It beats having to align on Hispasat 30W using the Satlook and then moving a bit to the left listening to quality voice readings from the PC.

Hi Nagusia
I have a Satlink WS-6908 which I use when touring Europe in my Motorhome. I use it to align the dish to Astra 2 no problem but try as I might I cant get it to show a signal for 27.5 :(. I input a Transponder in the TP Manager of Freq 11495 SR 44100 and Pol of V .
I have managed to align the dish using the set top box and TV to show the signal strength down at Alicante but it took me about an hour to get it working so I know the rest of my kit works OK :). The dish alignment is sensitive as a degree out and the lock is gone.
Have I got the correct TP info and what did you use on your meter.
LingSat is listing a TP for @FOB Sky on 11050 H with 17100 SR so when the rain stops here at home in the UK I am going to give that a try.

@wanderlust, I start off by getting a lock on a transponder like 10890V on Hispasat 30ºW (TP 64 on Satlink) which has a good strong signal and is easy to align the dish on. Then I change it to the Intelsat transponder 11495V SR 44100 (preset transponder 7 on the Sat setting menu) and move the dish a fraction to the left with the same elevation and when I get a lock I fine-tune. With an 80 cm dish in the north of Spain I get a quality reading of 11.1 dB on the Satlink. The process takes a couple of minutes at most.

@Nagusia Thanks . My TP list is different to yours but I have added the Hispasat 30ºW to my SatLink to give it a try.
I had all ready added the Intelsat transponder 11495V SR 44100 and when I had the dish aligned up and the TV working on all the Channels Standard and HD I attached the SatLink again to see if it had a lock but it did not, however I did get a low signal showing and I checked it was the strongest posable but No Lock.
This is what made me think I had a setting wrong and why I am going to try the LingSat TP listing for @FOB Sky on 11050 H with 17100 SR with luck it might be a stronger signal.
I will report back after my tests as it might help others.
