Welcome to the Forum :)

Better for what?

Make a difference to what?

Is what Bull?

You select a Postcode to suit your preferences for Regional (and, in some cases, National) variants of the PSBs.

There's only one Freesat Home Transponder and selecting one Postcode in preference to another makes no difference to whether, or how well, you get that Transponder.

I should have thought that the key issue for you is whether you will have access to a big enough dish in Costa Blanca to get worthwhile reception of Astra 2E and 2F, which is where the worthwhile Freesat Channels are transmitted from.

Well, certainly there are variations in signal strength during each 24 hour period and it also seems that Channels of one polarisation can suffer relative to Channels of the opposite polarisation but, if your Dish is big enough and is properly adjusted, then that need not affect your reception.

However as Regional variants do indeed vary in polarisation, if your dish is less than optimal it's possible your favoured Region could drop out for a while.

The best thing to do is experiment when you get there: Start off with your favoured Postcode and if all is well, then fine.

If not, try a Postcode that pertains to Regional variants of the opposite polarisation.

But remember that all BBC Regional variants are listed anyway on the Freesat EPG and also you can Customise which BBC Region appears on 101, regardless of the applied Postcode.

The latter does not apply to ITV, though.

I think it's to do with using a postcode to choose horizontally or vertically polarised channels. As to which is best - pass I'm afraid.

EDIT - Too slow!

it used to be with 2d using channel islands regions /frequencies gave a better signal than using other regions on other frequencies.
since 1n and 2e/f this is not so.

Yes neither polarisation seems to dominate, but some transponders are a lot stronger than others. But this only affects BBC1/2 and ITV1. Nothing else is regional, or if it is all regions are packed on the same transponder.

Miles better off get a Linux box and making your own channel list.

In my experience it certainly does make a differece fot example bbc sw has a stronger signal than London so a Plymouth post code works best for me

Here in SW France there is often slightly better signal on BBC1 and 2 Scotland, incl. HD - with few differences in the schedules
