... from satellites, when you are outside or peripheral of the footprint?!?

Sorry/Thanks CJ for loan from other topic:rolleyes:

I get some channels with good lock margin, mainly on Amos 2 but 3 is more difficult. I find that 3's signals vary a lot... Sometimes I can see 11222, 11258, 11336 and 11389 on my Fibo with no problems but most of the time they are below lock.

Why is that, what CJ says? My examples are for instance 2.9E Rascom-> only signal about 9pm - 03am (C-band). Other times not any kind of life. 40.5W signal only during evenings.
Former Intelsat 10, when she was on 68.5E SABC channels were watchable only few hours after sunrise (different footprint than strong 68.5E today).

Why are these fadings? Very understandable when weak allways weak or maybe signal only when weather conditions are extra good. Why regular differencies..?

Some SAT-related hardware.

Same issue we have in Belgium: Nordic beam from 4,8*E (where Latvian VIASAT channels are) watchable all day, but at evenings there is always decrease rain or shine. So, to have good reception, with rain tolerance, people using 1,2m dish instead of 0,9.
I've heard that it is because of age of satellite and its batteries become old.

It's also because the satellite rotates 360 degrees around itself as well as around the Earth to keep pointing at the same spot. Minor wobbles during these maneuvers cause the footprint to shift slightly, which are evident at the edges of footprints.

4.9e for me is strongest at midday and weakest in the evenings.
