Well I struggled with an aerial installation and a motor set up job today. Not too sure I'll be out tomorrow if it's still bad.

Snow is all gone here. All that is left is a few patches of ice.

Despite tales of impending gloom and doom, woke up to find no extra snow and a major thaw going on this morning.

What is the point of Weather Forecasters?

Anyway, I hope the Heating Oil Man comes today as we are running out fast ................... :-downt

What happened to the major blizzards we were promised overnight?

The temperature has shot up, its raining, the snow is melting fast and its gone horribly slushy.

I still get my day off though :D

News just in: you must call it a 'Snow Event' now (courtesy of the BBC weather bulletins). 'Snowfall' is just so last year. Or 18 years ago I suppose :-rofl2

TBH I recall the weather being somwehat worse than this some three weeks ago round here, as the wind was freezing almost everything it touched within seconds.

Hastings however was well and truly knackered last night, I had to leave the van halfway up a hill to the Conquest hospital (chocked up with lashing plates under the wheels to stop it sliding back down), and saw a number of cars - those Mercs with ABS mainly :-rofl2 -with serious damage to bumpers and alloys.

It's not fair!!! The clouds have formed a sort of cul-de-sac around this area and we're getting naff all of the wonderful white stuff!!! I hate this area!!! I want to live on a narrowboat so I can move to where it IS snowing like the arctic!!!

Surely there is a slight problem, there?

You'll need to fit an ice-breaking bow to the canal boat and to reinforce the structure somewhat :-idea

No, that's one of the misconceptions about narrowboats, they're tough enough to break through most ice under their own steam (well, diesel) due to the way the propeller pulls the water under the boat, creating a void under the ice a the front, and the ice breaks under it's own weight, so, the ice breaks itself... :D

Though, travelling through ice can really b*gger up the blacking!!!
