More of a safety thing, one wouldn't want to get it caught in the chain
On a similar note ..
I NEVER go commando.
Being a completely intact guy is no fun if you zip up too quick.

It's the same for those who've been nipped and tucked, old bean. One always forgets which way the zip was travelling at the time of the incident, too!

This is the first storm season ive experienced since ive got my new dish, so inevitably ive come across a design flaw with my LNB which enables water to sit on top affecting the signal by around 20/30%. Is this something other users has experienced? Id be interested to know. I've been thinking about upgrading my LNB since i got the dish but haven't got round to doing it.

Here are some good examples from last week of the urban heat island (UHI) effect.

Judging by the last pic, the presenter may now be known as Nina Fridge.

A beautiful clear morning here, though it was 'Nina Fridgidicious' overnight. I still did without my log burning stove though, for which the local peasant population are grateful. My anthracite was delivered last week, we'll see how long I can make a tonne last (hopefully until Spring)

I took the wife to work this morning and went back to bed to save on the heating bill, we pay £140 per month for gas and electricity and still have to watch what we do :(.

I paid €112 for the last couple of months electricity, though there is no mains gas here (nor are we on mains drainage either). Electricity usage doesn't vary too much here, maybe a little more when it's dark nights and mornings and I have house lighting on, though this is counterbalanced by not using the electric oven and cooking on and in the Rayburn. I have two worktop hobs, running on bottled gas.

Not sure how much heating will cost this Winter. I've paid €530 for anthracite, €206 for wood to supplement that in the Rayburn and €204 for 50cm logs for the log burner in the lounge. I have yet to begin the large logs, thanks to the mild weather, a supply left from last Winter and a surplus of ready dried peasants.

They reduced our bill from £155 to £140 at the end of the summer we was in credit by £110 gas £40 electric we are on dual fuel with BG,

I have fitted a real fire in our living room and could save money by using it but hassle and a mess with the open fire, I will consider fitting a range like yourself when I do the kitchen and pipe it to the central heating.

Probably worth looking around for a second hand one Martin, as long as the boiler's sound it should be ok. You can replace the firebricks, firedogs etc reasonably easily. Mine does four radiators upstairs and a towel rail in the bathroom and that's gravity fed - no pump, which is handy if the leccy goes off.

Not too bad on the Bills front here: £44 per month leccy and a total of around 1300 litres of Kerosene per year, down nearly 30% on last year to 46p/lt or so.

Getting rid of the copper phone line in three months, too (Albeit the replacement VOIP and Broadband by Microwave Link will work out almost exactly the same cost.
