One of my earliest memories, that winter. Fantastic fun for a (then) six year old.

Imagine if the winter of '63 happened in this day and age, back then it was all can-do attitudes and people roped in to help get things moderately going, they rallied round to help people in the community, got food to people who needed it who were stuck in their homes, today, health and safety sez no, don't go near a snow-packed road, don't try and dig the snow to help your trapped neighbours, just sit indoors twiddling your thumbs and hope it all goes away, that is of course if you actually listen to the gubberment, if they do nothing, then the people will do something, whether or not they say not to... :p

According to yesterday's chip wrappers, around 30% of the UK are obese, so they may well be stuck in their homes regardless of the weather. Not getting food delivered to them could be their salvation.

The BBC made some attempt to explain lake effect snow with flashy graphics and fluffy clouds which didn't make much sense.

I liked Ginger Zee's  explaination.

Lake Erie gets shallower and warmer (temperatures in Fahrenheit) in the Buffalo direction and the cold air picks up moisture from the lake and dumps it as big fluffy flakes on Buffalo at the end of the lake.

And then there's the elderly who are not able to work a shovel, ain't a salvation for them, more a life sentence...

For me ..the longer the snow stays away ..the better I like it.
I have trouble walking without falling over as it is ..that white shyte from the heavens does me no favours whatsoever.
Nice through the window ..with the central heating turned on (assuming you can afford it)..and no reason to go outside...
But I fail to see any other pros ..only cons.
Not too long off Xmas now so will risk an early BAHH HUMBUG....roll on summer ..so I can play out with my friends Tom Dick Harry Carl and Christina...
;)

I rather think Christ would be unimpressed by what goes on these days, too!

If he was actually real (not everyone believes he existed)... ;)

But yeah, christmas starting in October is bluddy annoying, it's the reason I'm sick of it before december's even arrived...
