Hi guys.

I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if I sound like a novice.

I have read on various sites that you're usually required to have an address and bank account in Portugal to get Zon installed. This is a bit of a problem since I don't live in Portugal, and don't have any family or friends out there either. Been on holiday a few times, but that's it.

I have stumbled across _www.allsatsolutions.co.uk/zon-tv-cabo.php, who say they provide Zon to Portuguese people in the UK. Just wondering, has anyone had any dealings with them? I saw that they sell their Zon equipment on ebay, so doubt they are a scam to be honest otherwise they'd have been shut down. They also mention that they don't require you to have a bank account or address from Portugal. It looks very good.

Any opinions or advice before I part with my money? Or if anyone has any other suggestions of companies then I'll happily consider them. Don't mind paying extra money as I just want it installed.

Thanks in advance :)

New company according to those that know

spacer.gif
Status: Active
Date of Incorporation: 07/11/2011

Country of Origin: United Kingdom Company Type: Private Limited Company
Nature of Business (SIC):
82990 - Other business support service activities not elsewhere classified Accounting Reference Date: 30/11
Last Accounts Made Up To: (NO ACCOUNTS FILED)
Next Accounts Due: 07/08/2013
Last Return Made Up To: 07/11/2012
Next Return Due: 05/12/2013

Only a mobile number in their advertising, and no address for writing to/returns/posting a cheque.

I wouldn't, others might.

It might be worth putting in a fixed RTP system in first just to get the language, and progress from there.

If there is no address listing and no fixed landline i wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Looks very fishy to me.

I was talking to one of the guys via email, and he gave me the mobile number and asked me to call him. I never did because I was busy and he answered all my questions in the emails.

I had a look at their ebay feedback and it all seems good, and they sell their equipment on ebay, including the receiver, dish etc.

Something tells me they are legit, and if I was to buy off their ebay store then I am offered protection I believe from both PayPal and ebay, so disputing a payment is easy, if it comes to that, of course.

It would be nice if there was someone who actually used their service before, but as Channel Hopper says above, they are a new company.

On their listings on ebay, they have an address in Oxfordshire.

Tempted to give it a go if I'm honest.

That's your perogative, of course, but bear in mind the warnings above. Ebay's refund policy can sometimes be less effective than one might hope for and if you go direct there's not even that.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I will see if I can find any reviews online before parting with money, unless anyone can suggest an alternative?

As mentioned above, I don't mind paying extra money per month, or year whatever the subscription may be, because no TV provider in the UK shows Portuguese football, therefore I have no other option than to look for a foreign provider. A Portuguese based one would be ideal because I'd get all Portuguese football and not just the top division.

Hi

You could try tvcorner.com in France, look at the bottom of the page ZONTVCabo,

I have used them for my Al Jazeera card for the last 3 years , and have had no problems, and I seem to remember that someone else here has used them,

good luck,

regards

Got my Zon receiver, dish and card from the company mentioned above.

I'm pleased to say that it wasn't a scam.

I've got one question though; I got a Zon 60cm dish in my package.. Will this be good enough to pick up the channels in Belfast? I've not had the dish put up yet.

One other thing: How much (roughly) would it cost to get the dish put up? I've heard that some of these companies charge nearly £100.

Thanks.

Yes, 60cm should be fine for Hispasat.

Why don't you install the Dish yourself >>> It isn't difficult, as witnessed by each and every one of us who has done it: We all had a first time.

Haha. This is something I have thought about, but how do I know where to point the dish?

Start with www.dishpointer.com and read a couple of guides. A couple of hours of reading will save you £100.

I've ordered from TV Corner in the past and they were fine.

Try dishpointer, to get a general idea, then use a cheap satellite meter, to locate the satellite.

So, I got my dish put up, everything is working perfectly, except Benfica TV.

Benfica TV is now a paid premium channel because they obviously purchased the rights to the Premier League and will also broadcast Benfica's home games.

I subscribed to the channel a few weeks ago and it was activated when the channel went live on the 1st of July... Zon have acknowledged this on my online account on their website and they billed me for the channel.

I have tried turning the box on and off, the usual stuff to get it going, but it still isn't working.

I'm not expecting anyone here to have Zon installed, but does anyone have any idea's on how to fix this?
