Just thought i´d add these because the may be of interest and are very good. MBC2 is a movie channel on Nilesat, and shows very good FTA movies, such as The Ring, The Core, Final destination, Face off, and loads others i can remember off the top of my head. Scheduals can be found for this channel on www.2onthenet.com. Also MBC4 shows all american content. You can wake up to a news feed from ABC news every morning, and watch shows like 24, tru calling, Nanny911, Friends, Malcome in the middle, crossing Jordan, Alias and again loads others i cant remember. That website you can get to off www.MBC.com. Enjoy.

Well yes, but there are people near you who get MBC on a 1.3m. Or you might like to try with your 80cm OneTV, that shows good stuff, and i think its stronger where you are.

& even then tricky to get!

I need to look for a better LNB I think for my 1 metre dish. ISTR reading here about a Physics-defying 0.2 dB LNB? :-) but I can't remember where I saw it. Any recommendations folks at a lowish price please?

I've just sent someone to your site - very handy thanks.

Oh, when I looked at MBC about 9 months ago I think the subtitles were burned in to the movies. Is that still the case?

thanks,
john

According to Satdude
Hotbird 2 - 13.0E

MBC (United Arab Emirates) is clear on 12015H SYM:27500 FEC 3/4 SID480 VPID523 APID760 Ara
Perhaps more will follow with Hottie 7

Yes, there are still subtitles, but they are smaller than they used to be, once you get watching a movie you forget about them.

Yeah the MBC channels are awesome Most of the stuff I watch is on these channels. They've got great movies, A LOT of American comedies and series and reality shows. In general Nilesat has many great channels to choose from. One TV is also very good, Alrai, Dream TV, Saudi 2, and sometimes Oman has some good comedies and movies

You stand a fair chance of getting MBC in Harrow on a 90cm.
Look at post #16 in this thread.

Thanks all, despite my lack of knowledge I have managed to get one MBC on Hotbird. Its a shame that the Echostar I have is so fiddly to programme and do software upgrades with.
Once I am familiar with all the technical jargon and finding my way around the Sivercrest SL65 receiver I am sure things will be a lot easier.
I was listening to Radio Sawa from Iraq this morning before work, very interesting (sorry guys its in Arabic).

If there are others who read these threads and would like to know more about the jargon used, I found this informative site

I did a search on 11938 27500 and only found 10 channels; none FTA (taquilla 5,6,7.... to name a few). I'm in South East London (if that helps)
