That's sad news @4wd :(
I'm still using my 90cm dish and have also noticed a change recently, cutting off earlier in the evening than previously. I haven't ordered the 150 yet since I already have too many home projects but I have ordered a quad-tuner VU+ Duo2, more for fun than anything else...
I was wondering if the post mount was the culprit re the shipping! :)
TBH i'm not too sure what to do regarding mounting i.e. a ground stand on a concrete slab (maybe make one myself?) or a steel pole concreted directly into the ground. I don't think i have too much soil before I hit rock...
I did the same as @skomedal and asked the Laminas factory for pricing. this is what they came back with:
AS1500.................254 €
ASZ1500................99 €
STP1800................275 €
Shipping................296 €
Customs procedures 30 €
The shipping is the killer here!
The only applicable import charges will be the 25% VAT (chargeable on the dish AND cost of shipping). As far as I can tell there's no import duty to pay.
And the moral of the story is: Don't buy from x-sat! :-)
If you want a Gibi there are plenty of local dealers selling at around 5000,- (incl.tax/delivery). Alternatively, maybe someone on this forum can get you a good deal! ;-)
From what I've seen, the average price for the Gibi 150 including AZ/EL mount here in Norway is around NOK 5000,- although I've seen it for as "little" as NOK 4500,-.
Thanks for the fast responses!
Yes, that's exactly what I have. Everything is ok, with some weather overhead, except between 19:00 and 22:00/23:00.
It's no more than a guess backed up by the experience of people in the local (-ish) area. As I say, it's just a guess (although an educated guess)...
After receiving some great advice over at the Astra 2E: Scandinavia & Baltics Reports thread, I've finally decided that that I need to hit the button and get myself a 150cm dish. Now, the question is WHICH dish to get. Since this question doesn't directly relate to fringe reception and is more...
I see, it looks like there are more options for a receiver than i thought... time for more research!
A diseqc switch with a twin tuner was my first thought. The problem with that is if i want to record two things on one sat and watch something on the other. The likelihood of that happening is...
Probably going to get the Gibertini 150. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to this kind of thing but the Gibertinis seem to have a good reputation on the various forums I've looked at.
Just looked at the Nano T3. Looks interesting and a much better price than the Vu+ however I want 4 tuners...
Thanks for the update @4wd. 150 now firmly on the shopping list, hope to source one in the next few weeks.
Maybe not appropriate to this thread but I will be getting a new receiver too. Had decided on a Vu+ Duo2 but I see that Technomate receivers have a good following. Does anybody have any...
Getting pretty much the same here. Reception gets sketchy at around 19:00 - just as the kids are going to bed! Don't know what time it comes back as we've usually got into Netflix for the remainder of the evening! :)
We're in Søreide so not a million miles away but as I understand it reception can vary wildly in the fringe areas. Where did you buy your dish? Any recommendations for good (read "cheap") local sat shops? I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go for the 150 over the 120.
FINALLY got the Black Ultra and set it up. After a little adjusting the SNR went up from what was originally 43% to 52%, then after a little more tinkering to try to squeeze a little more out of it the best I could get was in the low 40's! I gave up after a couple of hours of messing around...
