Thanks to everybody who gave an opinion on this topic and now I'll give a quick word on how I've progressed since I last wrote on this thread. First of all I managed to convert my 500 gigabyte ntfs hdd external hard drive to a single partition fat 32 drive. The drive has to be fat 32 as that is...
Working on this over the weekend I found a tool that converts my video files to .ts files (which were the format of the recorded files on the external harddrive). However the converted files wouldn't play properly (they were skipping and the sound was all over the place). I'll keep working on it...
I have a technomate 5200D usb. The recorded files on the external hard are in which format? And can video files be converted to that format on a computer and then transferred to the harddrive for watching via the set top box?
My box only allows the current programme and the next programme displayed on the EPG. Is there any way of getting more than on programme in the future on the display?
I don't intend to connect the aerial to the usb connection but was hoping to record transmissions from the aerial through the set box to the hard drive via the usb connection

I've addded an external harddrive through the USB connection on my Technomate 5200D set top. It records the channels recieved through set top box no problem but is there any way I can record the channels from the aerial on the roof?
I've just bought the above model and I have 2 questions. Can I record channels from the TV areial straight through the box to the usb harddrive and is it possible to use a monobloc lnb with specifically the Astra 28 satellite and another satellite?
I'm looking for a new FTA/Analogue Receiver box as my old FTA box gave up.
I'm also looking for feedback on the quality of the reception from analogue channels on those boxes in comparison to that of the normal aerial in the attic.
I'm in the Republic of Ireland the fta channels from the box...
I tried the receiver box with an installed sky dish (It should be aiming at the same satellite shouldn't it) and I could get no signal.
The reciever box must be done for.....
The user screen is still on the TV but all channels come up as no signal as you scroll through them. When pressing the "info" button the quality and level bars are at 0%
Thanks for the tips I'll try them out
