if you are an F1 fan, be careful about how you change you sky package!
when sky sports f1 hd was launched, it was free for all hd pack subscribers. back then there were the 2 entertainment packages (basic and extra), the movies pack and the sports pack. if you wanted hd, it was 10 pounds a month extra.
since the launch of the new package schemes, it all changed: there is the entertainment pack (basic, sd), the entertainment extra (all sd channels except movies and sports) and entertainment extra+ (hd version of all channels, except movies/sports)
if you want movies or sports, then (on top of the 16 or 22 pounds) its an extra 5 pounds each if you want them in hd. before, if you had the 10-pound hd pack, that included hd movies and sports as well, if you had those premium packs.

now back to f1: if you change to "entertainment extra+", you lose sky sport f1, since it is now only available in the sport pack. however, it will continue to be a bonus channel for those (like me), who still have the "old" hd pack.
especially be careful, as at first it might sound like a beneficial move: old ent.extra+hd pack=27+10=37 pounds; new ent.extra+ pack=32 pounds. but the latter does not include sky sports f1!

Same so do i, plus i manage to get the audio insync. It's always nice to see Niki Lauda even though i dont speak a word of Deutsche
. The sky UK deal will mean half the races are shown on the BBC aswell...

Yep. RTL is the "go to" Free alternative that a great many of us enjoy when the BBC is off-duty.

Sky will continue to rip people off for as long as they think they can get away with it. I booted Sky UK about three months ago and to be honest i don't miss it, although they do remind me by sending their crap through the post and ringing me everyday. As soon as i see the 0800 number i cancel the call as i know who it is.

Hell will freeze over before i subscribe to Sky again, or unless they offer me the entertainment extra package for half price :-lmao

My Youview box works fine for what i want it for although when its not being used I spend the rest of the time watching Sky Italia. The package is just as good for a fraction of the cost and most of the channels are in English :D

Its just a pity the Sky Italia receiver is just as bad as the UK one :(

Am sure they are, but they are unlikely to carry cricket :-)

You know that RTL Schweiz left 13E and is now broadcasting on 19E?

So on 19E you now get the choice between the German, Austrian and Swiss version of RTL. All of them will show the races live and will have ad-breaks at the same time (but due to different lengths of the ads in the three countries sometimes one version, in most cases the German one, will be a little bit ahead of the others.

Used to channel hop between ITV and RTL to avoid the ads back in the day. Still hear the howls of anguish when the ad breaks coincided

They rang me yesterday and offered me precisely that! - No fixed contract length and the first three months free too. Still turned them down because:-

1.) You can only time-shift HD on a $ky box and only play it back for the life of that box and hard drive. You can't record HD in the true sense of the word like you can on a Panasonic Blu-Ray FreeSat or FreeView recorder with which you can record HD to removable media and keep the recording to play back wherever and whenever you want.

2.) I object to paying a subscription for channels which carry advertising. One or the other but why both?

3.) I will not continue to fund a company which has deprived us of live, advert.-free, coverage of F1.

4.) I spend five months of the year in France.
