New wideband arrived and Thaicom (78.5E) works Ok (from 3.4 GHz). Immediately noticed that 3.6 - 3.7 GHz better signals than former Titanium 3.7-4.2 GHz Lnb.

Yeah, but this time it stayed 1 week in Helsinki-Vantaa airport custom house. Hope they sniffed Lnb well:mad:

Some Screen shots on different Satellites with an ESX241 LNB. Dish 1.5 m. Tried again the Titanium pll but can't say I saw anything
better.

For first time "Yunnan International Channel" 3775 H on Chinasat 12 @ 87.5° East , with titanium satellite LNB .

adonis1; can you check 3743V 1666 and 4168V 2206 (87.5E). Sure signal but no lock here. Because of my new stb (TM-f3/5) I dont know how it working, if these are only datachannels. Anyway no lock but is it becuse of data or simply too weak signal to lock (8PSK maybe)?

My second ESX241 arrived this morning ..
Just over a week ..from the USA ..
That's fast .
Still the best voltage switched lnbf imo ..
the Titanium is good ...but the ESX is better..
..at least on my PF it is.
This one will repalce the one at Christinas focus ..the older ESX will then move to offset position for further experiment.

I agree with you 100% with the ESX is about the best on the market so far.

I mounted the ESX last night as close to the sweet spot & west of the ESX at the focus ...
Although results were better ...still not good.
separation roughly 8 degrees ..
But then I have proved this to myself in the past realising that if the tripod isn't critically adjusted to place the lnb exactly at the centre (sweet spot)..gain drops off very rapidly.
I can only conclude that deep PF dishes either don't perform well on side lobes or noise levels rise quickly away from he focus thus cancelling useful signal levels.
Best results for an offset lnb are obtained by moving the lnb a good 10 to 12 degrees off centre ..and NOT aimimg at the dish centre ..but indeed aiming high /low East or West of the centre thus effectively only using a portion of the reflector surface ..
Using his method it was possible to lock TPC at 1W at 4.8 db...whereas placed close to the sweet spot and aimed at the dish centre ..
No signal whatsoever..
I really could do with doing some research on the properties of Deep PF dishes ..but info is difficult to find as they are so unpopular these days..
The bit I have found points to such dishes being Lower gain ...narrow beam ...highly critical when pointing..less prone to side lobes ..but very efficient when set up correctly within that narrow beam ..and less influenced by thermal noise (Kelvin)...
If anyone wants to chip in with suggestions of info ..a discussion would be both interesting and informative.

Interesting indeed..
I have removed the concentric ring feed on the focus ESX ..Also removed the full width concentric ring feed from the offset ESX..
..this has allowed me to get the offset ESX about 1.5 inches closer to focus ..
TPC at 1 West which simply wouldn't lock on the offset ESX (signal too low) ..suddenly shot up to a lockable level at 5.1db.
so that extra 1.5 inches (equates to roughly 30 'clicks' on the Vbox) or approx 2.5 degrees made all the difference ..and the offset lnb is _not_ pointing at the dish centre but a few inches left of centre..
here are a couple of photo's..
I think I will work on joining 2x concentric flat feeds together to see what can be achieved ..

One thing I will say for definate .. replacing the Offset ESX with any other lnbf will not allow TPC to lock ..although BBC Africa IS just possible with the Titanium.

I have noticed exatly same and second offset LNB is not good idea when signal is weak.
If You have some room for second big antenna, go for it.
Titanium LNB is not much better than others.
I found extreamly cheap place to buy C band LNB:

Thanks for your input ..
No chance of a second large dish at my location ..
and for the difference in cost ..which is minimal ..I'd always recommend going for the ESX241.

The price is right but they only have a single and I would require a dual. I would also estimate shipping to Canada would take several weeks.

I bit the bullet and ordered a
C1WPLL C-band LNBF as well. I will give it a go on my 8' solid for circular Atlantic sats, I am presently using my esx241 for that feed. I am also still waiting for the dual to be released to give it a test on my 10' bud.

I am using my X2 Premium II receiver for this test so the readings will be in signal quality and we all know that the x2 is a miser when it comes to showing elevated quality. The results with my Esx 241 lnbf:

Probably then the only difference is its Freq Stability throughout it's life cycle being a PLL!
