Right! That's it! Enough already! I will be cancelling my Sky subs at the end of the year as I'm not prepared to fork out £300 a year to record stuff from free channels. There is nothing I want to see on the other channels and I gave up on Sky 1 years ago. Goodbye Mr Murdoch. I'm not prepared to line your pockets any more. :-buttkick

If you're actually prepared to leave then phoning them up might produce a substantial discount. At least you'd get another year at possibly better than current price.

When Sky first took over O2's phone and broadband services (with which I had been very satisfied) they tried to give me a free installation of a Sky HD box and 12 month's free subs. I must admit I was tempted for a while even if it was only for the receiver but then came to my senses. I already have to use an HDMI splitter as my main TV only has three inputs and I don't have any spare satellite feeds so it would just have been impossible. Even putting the box on a single feed in the kitchen was thought about and rejected.

Just last Saturday I arranged to leave Sky's phone and broadband service and I feel so much cleaner now. All things being equal the changeover should take place next week.

Time to make the break from Sky I think. I can get a decent Humax Freesat+ with freetime for about £200. It's an initial outlay, yes, but I'll be saving money. If I keep the Sky box I would have to pay £10-odd a month just to retain the record/playback function. As far I'm concerned...GAME OVER. :)

Sky try to take over everything. Look at what happened to BSB in the early 90's. Sky didn't like a rival to their system - god forbid!

That's the only reason I'm still with sky.
After my 25 months are up, I work for Openreach so will go for the cheap TV package I'm entitled too as well as the free Internet. Happy snails! :)

NO! I've made up my mind. Sky will be kicked into touch as soon as I can get rid of it. I think Sky see their customers as a cash cow. Well...no more. Oh just as a footnote, I'm having my brick shed built right now and I fully intend to get my dish motor back into action when I can. Can't do an install in this intense heat though.

Well said mate. You can get a sub from Focussat for about £11 a month after you get the card which can usually be found on ebay, although that is providing you can get a signal from 1w. It gives me everything i want to watch including 5 movie channels including HBO and Cinemax.

If i was to subscribe to the nearest package that gives me what i want from Sky i would be looking at £28 a month and then i would have to lose the movies.

As I have said, Sky is getting too expensive. At first they dangled the carrot to tempt you and then when they reel you in...BOOM! They have you by the wossnames. But I have seen the light and I am quitting Sky. Nuff said! :)

Very interesting Nano! What channels do you get all together mate? Can you get the card direct from focus sat?

This one

http://www.focussat.ro/lista-canale/Complet

Total =61 Romanian LEU = Approx £11.

If you want the HD you add this one

http://www.focussat.ro/lista-canale/HD

which is 10 LEU which is about £1.70

I won my Focussat card in a competition on another forum but i have seen these cards for sale on ebay. No idea if you can buy them direct, although i shouldn't imagine so unless you live in Romania.

Waw that's allot of channels for £11!

Just a bit concerned about buying a card off eBay, as it could get switched off?

Thanks for the heads up Nano :)

For £11, even a tight Tyke like me wouldn't be too fussed if it got turned off.

Well what can I say. I rung Sky to say that I wanted cancel and now I have the same package but £10 a month less. Just proves they can reduce your subs if they have to just to keep you as a customer :). RESULT
