WHY
Spiders keep your house clear of other insects by eating them, prefer spiders to other indoor insects:D

Absolutely. And they are far more interesting than Daddy Long Legs, Flies, Wasps and the like.

They also make my SWMBO scarce. Though not sure if that's a bad thing....

Taken today in between rain showers.

Could this be a fly agaric. Normally red but with age goes orangey brown as your picture shows fully open and not domed. If it is you would have to eat 70kg, yes 70, to cause any serious damage. You would then get symptoms 1 to 3 hours later nausea, psychological effects as of chablis including difficulty speaking, confusion ,euphoria with a bonus the feeling of floating but you also get tremors. Used as a recreational mushroom. This grows in pine and birch areas (might be worth picking!!!!!)

I love Slow Worms.

In the UK they have Legal Protection, such is their fragile existence here.

I have to be careful here when I am cutting grass or strimming. The biggest one I've seen here was approx 18ins (not gone metric in this house yet!!)

That's not a monster.
Now this is a monster.
Spent a good 30 minutes looking at me yesterday whilst cooking a brisket. The size of the brick mortar gives you an idea of the span, it wasn't even trying to stretch across.

Ive got a short video of her cleaning herself as well, will try to upload later.
