Made in Tyne & Wear off Pontop Pike has started showing a promo video on channel 8.

Bay TV Liverpool has been broadcasting a half-minute promo loop on channel 8 for the last week. Presumably off Winter Hill although I don't understand how my Freeview HD box knows that this is the correct local TV channel for me as I haven't inputed a postcode in it.

It'll slip into Channel 8 as that is its LCN number transmitted, it won't depend on a postcode. It'll only be a potential problem if you will be able to receive two or more different local TV services all of whom will have the LCN number of 8.

Yes but that doesn't explain how, if there is more than one local TV channel being transmitted, the receiver knows which one to choose. According to http://www.ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=SD660144 there will local TV for Blackpool/Preston and Manchester soon.

I'm told the one in Brighton is also on air but it is beaming west from Whitehawk Hill, there's not a trace of it just a few Km east and LOS with the mast so plenty of people within the city limits won't be getting it. Doubt they're missing much.

Cant see many of these channels lasting long term. London Live is already struggling, & their viewing figures are absolutely dismal

City8 Birmingham went into administration before they even got on air...

On the other hand it sounds like STV Glasgow is doing quite well for itself. The Belfast licence also should have a good chance as they were originally a low powered analogue broadcaster that ran right up to analogue switch off.

Gosh, I'd never noticed that clicking on the individual channels would bring up their
beam patterns. Ta.

London Live is a channel that gets in the way of flicking between BBC 3 and 4.

A retune this morning - shifting the news and childrens stuff into the hundreds - has brought in a new batch of transponders ready for some more broadcast dross.

The looping video on Made in Tyne&Wear is annoying, makes me want to edit my channel list and boot it off my TV... :rolleyes:
