There's also an MTN transponder on 47.5w, which is strong enough even for a 1.5m dish.

Yep ..
Got that one OK ..but was searching Linear at the time ..
Turns out I was a good way off ..
I have locked another which so far has eluded my investigations ..
This one I hope is from a linear bird ...possibly 43 or 45 W
signal a bit strong for 43W maybe.
but can't find anything at Flysat..
3832V(R) sr 2285 8psk 8/9 fec

but is the only thing I can lock from this position on the arc.

Ok ..shifted my arc splitting between Linear and Circular as I went along..
Currently done 10E to 58W ...
So far I've noticed That 17E and 10E ..and of course 43W are the most affected (not unexpected)
The only unencrypted channel I can now receive at 10E is Sayare ..
but then Startimes hasn't been lockable here for some time even with a centrally mounted lnb.
TVT is now below lock as is Capo Verde ...but not a long way below lock ...so might be possible to get these back along with Sunna ..which is often Time of Day here.
have noticed an inconsistant variation of signal loss on various birds between 1 and 2.5 db ..
...and again this figure is open to improvement though I dont expect miracles.
The lost channels were extreme fringe for the most part.
All in all ...I'd say the end justifies the loss ...and the dual feed will be staying put for now.
cheers

Very much TOD and Weather dependant ...but just managed a lock on Oromiyaa 17E @8pm 4.5db ..
So not that much of a signal degradation afterall.
Previous centre focussed locks have been around 5.3db
Gave me a chance to lock the new 17E position into the Vboxes anyway..
nice.

Also managed the TVTs at 10E around 6pm @8.2db..

Ok ..bit the bullet and shifted Christina over to 58W ..
The reason I had been putting this off ...as expected the grease in the actuator being almost fully expelled ..
The new postion using the linear ESX was logged into the Vboxes ...and a blindscan performed to see how many TV channels were lockable with the dual feed as it currently is..
answer ..a good number..300
Ok how to avoid having to refill the jack with grease every time I go west ...
Hmm ..
How about threaded metal garden watering nipples ...
I found some 4mm ones on ebay 10 for £3 so ordered some..
I'm hoping to thread the drain hole in the actuator and fit one of these ..
They have a barbed end to which I hope to fit a short length of rubber tube ..and another nipple on a reservoir of grease ...such that during the Eastward stroke it will autofill by suction assuming enough is ceated....and pushed back into the reservoir during the Westward stroke..
I may have to add a little oil to thin the grease.
This may not work at all ...but hey ..
nothing ventured etc etc
..If nothing else it should make grease top ups easier
;)

Ok ..just wanted to say a big THANKYOU to both Alex and Chris for sending me a couple of scalar feeds for my experiments.
Identical gifts from each of them ..
One deep scalar and one shallow ..
So now I have 2 matched pair sets to carve up ..
cheers guys
