Interesting, anyone any idea which orbital slot this refers to? If it's not somewhere between 28.0-28.5E then it could be a hint that 2G might not stay at 28.2E for long or may take it's time getting there via another slot??

The latter seems to be the case. Main article by de Selding on Spacenews:

SES’s Astra 2G satellite, built mainly to bolster existing capacity for direct-broadcast television into Britain and Ireland, will be used to “bring into use” the Luxembourg military satellite system by occupying the future GovSat slot for at least three months. That is enough, under current International Telecommunication Union rules, to preserve a reservation.

Once it has fulfilled this task, Astra 2G will be moved to its permanent location at 28.2 or 28.5 degrees east, one of SES’s key TV-broadcast orbital neighborhoods.

So Astra 2G won't be used to take over anything at 28.2E until well into 2015.

So 2G will only be able to cover the first 5 transponders of Band F to 12.19GHz rather than to 12.5? I knew it couldn't do Band G from 12.5-12.7 but didn't realise it would be even lower.

Eutelsat 28A has 15 transponders + a few feed transponders running very low on fuel http://www.flysat.com/e28a-info.php looks destine for an inclined orbit very soon,

Eutelsat was going to replace this satellite in 2013 but due to the dispute with SES over 28.5 east they never planned it in

So will 2A & 28E last another 5 months while 2G goes on a new mission for X band transmissions ?

During tests conducted rocket "Proton-M" spacecraft "Astra-2G" at the launch complex (SC) Baikonur Cosmodrome was found in the observation complex command devices booster "Breeze-M".
State Commission decided to terminate prelaunch launch vehicle directly at the launch complex and transfer tests and inspections in the assembly building site 92A-50 to eliminate the identified faults.
The decision on the new date of launch rocket "Proton-M" spacecraft "Astra-2G" will be taken as a result of elimination of the comments in the complex command devices booster "Breeze-M".
