Good Afternoon everyone.

I've got a bit of a random one here and need help to figure it out.

I created a database for work based on PHP and MYSQL to store driver and vehicle info (who has had what car/bus, who owes for fuel and so on) and it was all working spot on running on an XPC Shuttle PC with Windaft7 as the OS...... Until I arrived at work the other morning to find it switched off and stuck at this screen:

I've tried all sorts to get it back on and nothing is working, I even asked the Autocab techs who happened to be on site (the people who originally installed the PCs) for advice, they said remove the ram and CMOS battery and try again <- That didn't work.

So I got another shuttle and swapped out the HDD and now I'm stuck on the Windaft Start Up Recovery, trying to fix the start up fails every time, repairing the MBR didn't do anything and everything I try fails.

The only thing I need from the HDD is the MYSQL database, everything else can be rebuilt but the MYSQL data cannot.

Does anyone know how to go about recovering the data from the database?

I've cobbled together another MYSQL database and have copied over the following files but it misses a few tables and doesnt copy over any of the data (except a few bits of 2 or 3 tables)?

I've searched high and low but can' seem to find any working info on recovering the database and data contained within

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Have you copied over your InnoDB file across? Will be in /data directory... That's where your InnoDB data is stored. The files you list will only hold data structures.

If you have, check MySQL logs and see what it's saying. Maybe InnoDB isn't set up on that server. Or there's some other issue.

I've copied over the full /data folder and mysqld keeps crashing

What does the MySQL log say? Zip it up and attach it here if you can. Or check Windows event logs (assuming it's running under Windows).

I delete the log the other night as it was full of what looked like binary between the logs (I might have been to tired tho an been looking at it wrong) and now I can't find the new log (or it's not creating one <- probably right lol)

I'm going to try a fresh install of MYSQL and see if I can get it sorted or atleast get a few log files

I've got to be doing something silly wrong

I need to get this sorted and get the pc back to work tomorrow so I'm gonna crack on and I'll report back with some logs when I've reinstalled MYSQL and had another play

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

I suppose it's too late to try safe mode and the carry out a system restore.

I've always 'slaved' a hard drive on a completely independent PC (full AV and anti spyware enabled) before connecting the dicky drive, to pull off the important data. Despite it being a few years old, PC Inspector still remains one of the best bits of software for deep analysis and retrieval.

I've tried using start up repair to get to system restore but its not turned on, I have made an image using EaseUS Todo Backup Free 7.5 and I'm going to try and restore it to another hard drive

I've even tried to do an "upgrade" install of windows 7 (that should keep files intact) from the command prompt in the rescue options but that tells me to boot into windows and try again

Safe mode freezes at aswrvrt.sys

I used the avast remover to "delete" avast and it made no difference

I can't remember what it was that I'd done but I managed to get the database up and running somehow, I quickly dumped the important table and then done a full database dump and stored them on an 8gig SD card (on a bootable win7 iso)

I rebooted, tried to install win7 over the top of the XP setup I'd used to get the database back and went through the menus, formatted the partition the installer wouldnt install onto that partition, I Googled it on my phone and found a tutorial and using the command prompt formatted the hard drive again, rebooted again and instead of the win7 install kicking in I got an error (bootmngr is missing or something like that)
Turned the computer off, booted into recovery and used notepad to open the SD card and it was empty, somehow the format must have killed the card off too

I'm trying to recover the lost data from the card now but if that fails I'll have to start again, that'll teach me for not saving the files elsewhere too lol :-doh

Just an update

I managed to get everything back up and running, I got a little impatient with recovering the formatted SD card so I had a crack at the raw database files again

The problem I was having was the log files in the data folder (not the sql error.log, 2 other funky files), I was copying over the full data folder (including the 2 log files) and it was causing MYSQL to crash (not sure why because they come with the database and InnoDB files)

After a fresh install of MYSQL I copied over the contents of the data folder (minus the 2 log files) and deleted the 2 log files created by the first run of the server and started the service and all was well again, it made 2 new log files and nearly everything is back as it should be

Those log files are InnoDB specific - you can't read them but can be used to recover InnoDB data.

In the example below I had to delete the ib_loglile0 and ib_logfile1 leaving only ibdata1, the database folders and the error files

When I restarted the MYSQL service it regenerated the ib_loglile0 and ib_logfile1 files and it all worked well
