Yes, good result.

I do tend to be wary when suggesting dismantling the R-C as one tends to end up cursing, swearing and spending time picking shards of very hard plastic out of the carpet!

Had same problem with my Medion TV rcu, opened it and cleaned the black touch pad contacts with red spirit ( those solder joints are so minute so if that was the problem would have bought a new rcu or used the buttons on the tv ) but luckily resealed the unit and worked fine.

Took remote apart and cleaned with Circuit board cleaner. Then re-soldered all joints.

Regards

Unfortunately this was short lived. Lasted about 2 hours then failed again. Took unit apart and knew it was something to do with the "OK" button. Took a high res picture with my phone Nokia 808 and as you can see, the middle
pad is the "OK" contact and it can be seen that under the protective plastic film, ( zoom into the picture at 1:1 ) the silver has become damaged.

I can't see any way of fixing this.

I decided to try and add a USB keyboard as a wired remote.

Telneting into the machine and typing in echo usbhid >> /etc/modules ( to add USB Keyboard )

then by looking at /usr/share/enigma2/keymap.xml

I could see ( by searching for MENU ) that it mapped to the space bar and by looking at other mappings
I can control the machine with a USB PC keyboard. Its MUCH faster than the RC.

I'm still going down to World Of Satellites tomorrow as they are only 10 mins down the road to get a replacement RC.

I wanted to upload my keymap.xml file but it won't let me. ( Is there a way to upload XMLs or are they not allowed ? ) Also what is the max image file size I can upload ? My first try of the full remote control was over 4M Bytes and it wouldn't allow the upload so I had to crop the picture.

Mac allowed image is 1Mb.

With regards to the keymap, there are plug-ins available that will allow you to map keys however you want so you have to edit keymap.xml file manually.

Disappointing that the remote only lasted a few years though...
