Well it seems no one else had this problem, so I tried again today and everything seems to have downloaded o.k.
Did read that Windows Firewall would operate by default, but that was not the case today.
If anybody does have the same problem (cannot get on the internet after download)
Go to Control Panel, then Windows Security Centre, and click on Windows Firewall and switch the little monkey off.
