The film philosophical approach at redemption. The protagonist Manual Jordan (Billy Bob Thorton) has gotten parole from a life sentence for the murder of Abner Easley, and returns to the city he lived in to try to seek redemption. He ends up living and working at a community house run by a preacher, Miles Evans (Morgan Freeman.) The film is equipped with beautiful voice-overs about the meaning of life and different philosophies for getting redemed. Manual also becomes friends with Idel Easley (Holly Hunter), his victims sister, in an attempt to make up for what he did. While working at the home he has interactions with Sophia Mellinger (Kirsten Dunst), the druggie daughter of a famous singer, struggling with the lack of adult guidance in her life. This quirky film, is asthetically beautiful. Stellar performaces by Thorton, Holly hunter, Morgan Freeman, and Kirsten Dunst.

Drunken Monkey (2002) Action / Adventure / Comedy / Crime

Mediocre kung-fu movie. Lau Kar-Leung plays Wen Biao, the owner of a respectable security company. Trouble begins when he is betrayed by his ambitious younger brother Wen Bao and the film’s villain Yu Haiyang, both of whom are more interested in trafficking opium than running a legitimate business. Left for dead in a river, Wen Biao miraculously survives their murder attempt and is tracked down a year later by a couple of zealous Monkey Fist enthusiasts, Chen Jiaye (Lau Wing Kin) and Ah De (Wu Jing), who are determined to put together a definitive Monkey Fist kung fu manual. Jiaye and Ah De are led to Wen Biao by his feisty female companion Xiao Min (Yao Yao, Shannon) and, after some persuading, are tutored by Master Wen in the art of the ‘Drunken Monkey Fist’ – a form of martial arts in which the fighter must consume alcohol in the belief that it improves your fighting and makes you more resistant to pain.

This modern-day, fantasy Cinderella features fairies, ogres and elves...as well as a hero in the guise of Prince Charmont, whom Ella falls in love with. Unlike Cinderella though, Ella must depend on herself and her intelligence to get her through her troubles and find Lucinda in order for her "curse" to be broken!

The Passion of The Christ focusses on the last twelve hours of Jesus of Nazareth's life. The film begins in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus has gone to pray after sitting the Last Supper. Jesus must resist the temptations of Satan. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, Jesus is then arrested and taken within the city walls of Jerusalem where leaders of the Pharisees confront him with accusations of blasphemy and his trial results in a condemnation to death.
