Corny or what ![]() "The rebranding strategy is being led by UKTV controller Matthew Littleford, who says Eden and Blighty are aimed at reinvigorating the factual section of the electronic programme guide with clearly defined brands." My System: .... | I think I'd stay clear of stupid sounding station names if I didn't know better... Just can't take it serious... Btw, I bet that 99% of the Sky subscribers doesn't know that Blighty is an army and navy slang for England as you say Llew :-). According to wikipedia (hehehe) "Blighty is an English slang term for Britain, deriving from the Hindustani word vilāyatī (विलायती) (pronounced bilāti in many Indian dialects and languages) meaning "foreign", and is itself derived from the Arabic/Urdu word wilayat, meaning a kingdom or ministry." I find this quite amusing hehehe... There is no real reference to the use of the word after 1958... Brilliant... and let's see what your bonus is for coming up with this excellent name change. Wasn't it (a few years ago) that the National Lottery spent millions on coming up with a new name and the winner was "Lotto"... Remember Billy Connolly doing his advert for the name change - CLASSIC :-) | ||
