US - Man sentenced to jail for pirating satellite TV | | AMHERST, N.Y. A man was sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay 308-thousand-dollars in a satellite television piracy case.
The U-S Attorney's office said yesterday that 68-year-old Walter Buchholz of Amherst pleaded guilty in June to making "Smart Cards" to steal satellite subscription and pay-per-view programming from DISH Network.
Buchholz was indicted in September 2004 in San Jose, California following an investigation by F-B-I Cyber Crime Squads there and in Buffalo.
