here and tell us what channels you cannot receive. Are they all on one frequency? If so did you by any chance install a DECT phone around the same time? as they are known to sometimes interfere with particular frequencies. It is unlikely to be cable problems since you can receive other channels.
As regards what the 'sat engineer' has said, well I am no expert but the scenario is unlikely I would have thought.
