Hi,
Thanks for your help on this.
The skystar HD2 does have a CI slot you can buy for about £30ish. I figured if I went down this route I would need a dragon/trex or diablo cam with the appropriate programmer+card?
The phoenix usb infinity with progdvb or dvbviewer would be a cheaper route but I don't know whether you can program this with $ky dodgybox serialnumber etc..for the subscription HD stuff.
I was tempted with the Dreambox, but my media center pc is such high spec and already used for dvb-t + movie/music/tv series playback etc..it made sense to keep it all in one box. Plus, the one box that looked the best i.e the dreambox 8000 sems like it's falled foul of licencing from what I've read on the other forums which is why the realease date seems like infinity.
"A Cas 3 + is a useful piece of equipment as it not only can program cams but also cards."
Aah, so you can add extra CAM encryption formats to the CAMS, but you have to have a card/dummy card in there for it to do it? I saw a site that was selling the TREX with the CAS 3 programmer, but without a dummy card which sounds unhelpfull now that I think about it. All this programming with dummy cards and programmers sounds like it could open up so many doors. Do you know of anywhere I can get some newbie guides that would explain the whole cam/loader card concept.
I think if the Infinity can be programmed with a $ky box serial, that would be my best first step, although I assume this would defnitly tie me down to progdvb or dvbview for the viewing/recording interface?
Thanks so much for your advise/info |
