If a DiesqC switch is a device which can switch between 2 dishes, then that sounds like the best solution, but I'm still relatively new to all this and would appreciate some clarification on this if possible.

That's a motor, not a switch, the DiSEqC switch looks just like a splitter, but it does the opposite and allows the receiver to switch between the 2 dishes as long as it supports switching, which yours does...
