After giving Norton NIS the boot (because they stopped supporting Windows 2000), I tried several applications.
Before that I didn't realise how fierce the competition is, as I upgraded the Norton NIS every year without any questions.
With the kind help of several members, I took the time to try out the following software, as they all give a month free evaluation (except ZoneAlarm only 15 days):
- AVG
- Kaspersky
- Avast
- BitDefender
- ZoneAlarm (Checkpoint)
- NOD32 (ESET)
They were all quite good, except for some minor problems here and there.
As I needed licenses for two users (they give either 1 user or 3 user with a nice discount, but without any discount for 2 licences). it was important that the price would be reasonable for the 3 user as the 3rd license would be wasted, unless I buy a laptop in the near future and activate the 3rd license already paid for.
Finally I decided to purchase ZoneAlarm Suite by Checkpoint.
Excellent product which found several undesirable "viruses" on both computers and has a nice user interface.
There is a special offer for 3 user license at $ 50 so I parted with the money today with a smile.
