My System: Std Sky box, CRT tv, various computers!
Can I record/view Sky and/or Freesat with one card?

Hi all

Have been reading through the forums trying to find an answer to these questions and can't find one. Apologies if this has been covered before.

I have a standard (not HD) Sky box with a quad LNB. Is there a TV card or combination of cards which will enable me to record Sky and/or Freesat using the current dish and LNB? I'm presuming I need to be looking at cards with a built-in MPEG decoder too?

If it were a case of simply recording the analogue output from the Sky box and manually setting the PC recording software to start and stop recording at a certain time that wouldn't be a problem, providng the quality wasn't poor.

If recording Freesat isn't an option then would be it possible to record Freeview instead, either with the same card or a separate one?

Is it possible to record from both Sky and Freeview/Freesat at the same time?

I've read somewhere that Vista MCE applies DRM to recordings so would be grateful if anyone could recommend a good alternative that would enable me to schedule recordings and watch playback without DRM. Oh, and ideally I'd like to save the recordings on my Windows Home Server and play them back from there.

And finally (!), I presume that to get the picture from the PC to the TV (Panasonic CRT) I simply use the S-Video out from the PC's video card to a SCART plug?

Sorry that turned out to be so many questions once I started typing!

Thanks in advance.
