SexView & SexView Plus not broadcasting

claims at _http://www.sexview.net(is this their official website ? I thought
it was _http://www.sex-view.net?)

state that the two channels will no longer broadcast from their current
transponder and may re-appear on 1 April 2006.

The 3 other channels in the 5+ bouquet are still broadcasting,
however.

Most worryingly of all is the mention of national variants of
SexView (English, French and German). Will UK subscribers
only be able to view the SexView EN channel ? Is this a tactic
to avoid UK-CMS Proscription orders ? Or to avoid broadcasting
what may soon be material which is illegal to view or possess
in the UK if the New Labour Thought Police pass their 'extreme porn' Bill ?

at my location (E Mids) and with my equipment, their new frequency
(12360H 27500 3/4) is noticeably weaker than 12092H 27500 3/4

12360 shows 50/60
12092 shows 62/80

for strength/quality on the Signal Status page of my Humax
with a 1m offset dish and 0.3dB LNB.

Is everyone else seeing a weaker signal from 12360H ?
(currently only Canal Canarias)

?
looks like it could be a spoof, e.g. here's what one german subscriber
received from SexView

"Dear Sir,

Telefonica (the company that takes care of the uploading) is experiencing technical problems.
Sexview & Sexview-Plus are not broadcasting. DPTV, 247 SexTV and Sexview-Extra are still up.
We hoped that these problems would be solved yesterday afternoon, but unfortunatly it turned out to be more complicated.
Right now Telefonica is doing everything possible to get the channels up & running again.

Our apologies for the inconvinience.

Best regards,

Laurens van Deijk"

the new SV 11-channel movie bouquet requires a new Viaccess card - the old 4+ or 5+ one won't work. Look at the turbosat website for their 'upgrade' offer.

Bear in mind that there are 17 channels on the 12360H transponder - 5 others unconnected to Sex View - and these FTA ones show no signs of blockiness or poor picture quality and one (Zan TV) is only broadcasting a testcard at the time of writing, i.e. not taking any significant transponder capacity.

This means that the 11 Sexview channels showing movies and the 1 trailer channel don't even have a proportional share of the available 38Mbit/s capacity on this transponder.

The short of this is - awful blocky picture quality - and it is - much worse than the picture quality on the old transponder - and that was poor also.

Also - at the time of writing they are not showing 3 new films per channel per day. They are repeating the same movies.

This may be just startup issues - this is the first working day since their official 1st April launch, but they have hit the ground crawling with 2 broken legs, rather than running...

...and my card subscription is ticking away the days while they appear still to be commissioning the product.

A dismally poor launch.
