well whats your favourite paul

at the risk of offending the good people on this newsgroup, what sort of sexual behaviour do you enjoy in your pornography?

if you're happy with the (by european standards) fairly tame R18 - type material then all well and good. But have you ever seen a John Thompson G.G.G. DVD, for example. Freely available by mail order over the internet. Absolutely mainstream on the continent, but over here in the UK, we are a few years behind in accepting harder material. There's no chance of anything like that being shown on any UK pay per view channel, for years and years 2 cum; no matter how scrambled it is. I won't go into specific sexual acts, unless you request it; but rest assured that R18's are pretty limp compared to some of the output on SexView Plus, et al.

R18's are the new softcore.

Stick with the european channels.

I haven't watched an R-18 dvd, but I hear they're passed without cuts. Joey Silvera's Service Animals is pretty nasty and that's on sale at my local sex shop. So what's your point, dude?
Millard.

Well some versions of porn films are made or cut specifically to conform to UK guidelines

Unfortunately, you can't tell this from looking at the box in your local Porn Shop, you have to get ripped off first

Anything to do with rough sex or verbal abuse, watersports etc, wont make R18 without cuts. Basically anything the censors consider slightly dodgy or dangerous, secret-type filming etc, even if an 'illicit activity' is just implied or obviously fictional

Its not just German fetish gear that gets edited, even fairly mainstream US stuff gets chopped about for R18, also things like Ben Dover have bits cut out for the UK market

I don't know about you, Millard, but i like to see the film as the director intended, whether its a porno or not

A recent example of ludicrous cuts demanded to pass a film for the R18 classification : a scene where a woman sits on a man's face had to be deleted, in case it restricted his breathing

War head, you have a good point. I hate censorship and I would agree with you that even R18 material is cut, which is wrong. The British Government should be ashamed of the Video Recordings Act and the Obscene Publications Act is an obscenity unto itself. The BBFC must also shoulder a fair proportion of the blame in some areas, although their hands are tied to some extent by the Government.

That being said, I think the way forward is to try to get the rules changed in the UK. When R18 can be legally broadcast we will have taken another big step forward. The material will then be readily accessible to adults who wish to subscribe from the comfort of their own homes and in time the grey suited ones will make further concessions. It won’t be quick or sudden but over the years things will change and having vanilla hardcore so easily available to half the population will make hardcore porn much less of a “hidden horror” and more a simple matter of taste.

Even watersports are allowed in a limited extent in R18. I believe peeing is accepted provided nobody gets pee’d on.

HA HA HA i wasn't aware of that last guideline Paul. You're right, access to some form of hardcore on Sky, for those that want to pay for it, would be at least a step in the right direction. It would certainly boost their ratings and be a good selling point for new dish installations; could give Sky the edge over Freeview, which has a slightly staid, wrinkly image and crap reception in many areas
