Al Jazeera Sports wins the rights for the UEFA Champions League !

Accrording to the attached and several other sources, Al Jazeera Sports have the right for the UEFA Champions League from season 09/10

They already screen

- Italian Football
- Spanish Football
- UEFA Cup
- FA Cup

I assume this means that ART have lost yet another major contract.

Several people on Ebay claim they will show Portuguese Football and Dutch, however I own a card and have yet to see that myself.......

Announced back in February. Games will be shown on the encrypted Al Jazeera sport channels and sub-licensed to FTA channels. I don't know if the FTA Al Jazeera Sport channels will show Champions League, my guess is they will. They are working on adding English audio to their channels as well. They did show Dutch football this season but I only saw this on their free channels on nilesat.

The new FA contract comes into place in the UK with the Community Shield, FA Cup and England games moving to ITV and Setanta. I don't know whether this applies to foreign broadcasters as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Showtime started showing the FA Cup as they try to attract British ex-pats with their programming and sport.

Interesting...... I wonder what this means for the 13E subscribers. Currently they pass the unwanted Italian mathes to ART I hope this set up will continue........ inshallah .....

They already show Portuguese and Dutch football , usually on their FTA channels, the sub channels are for the bigger leagues
