My System: echostar ad3000ipva and LIDL SL65 on a Wavefrontier t55. Long live analogue sparkles.
Question echostar ad3000IPVA and french analouge channels on 5w - sound problem

Hi all,

Some questions below about my Echostar

1) The default channel scan on 5W gave me a few analouge channels. The picture & sound is perfect.

However, because some were missing I did a blind scan (advanced installation -> autoscan) and the rest of the channels (analouge & digital) were found. The picture is still perfect, except the audio setting is incorrect for the analouge channels. All I hear is white noise and some of the correct sound, sometimes, faintly in the background.

I have looked though the manual and been through all the menu options and have found nothing to change the audio carrier.

Has anyone seen this afore?

Many thanks, qwery!

2) I have a switch connected with : LNB1 5w, LNB2 19.2e.
I set satellite 5w to LNB1, but I cannot see how to do this for 19.2e on LNB2. Nothing obvious in the manual.

3) The s/w revision is ESVCIAP100. Is this the latest?

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Can you not change the sound carrier using the Audio button on analogue channels?

There should be a button on the remote to select audio, certainly for digital channels.

There is at the bottom of the remote, but this does not do anything. Perhaps, it is only for digital. I only have a working 5w feed so cannot check digital (at least the unit does not find anything digital from 5w. Only analouge channels. Perhaps, there are only analouge on 5w?)

Anyway. It don't work

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E /19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

Most of the 5W analogue channels have the audio on 5.80MHz. Theres an option to change it in there somewhere, although its been a long time since I had to do it on my 3000.

weird. wonder why the receiver does not find these either?

Have you got an echostar 3000 and if so, what is the best way for searching for all the analouge and digital channels there?

I have run (normal FTA scan and then auto-scan). In both cases it only received the analouge channels and the latter scan messed up all of the audio ...

If your receiver hasn't been used for a while, you will have to add the new transponders, as they probably aren't listed on it.

Yup - the last channel /tp lists for the 3000 are way out of date - the last update for them was about 3 years ago.

Spend an hour updating all the frequencies for the satellite(s) you are interested in, then run the channel scan.

1) Please could you tell me exactly what you mean when you say: spend an hour updating all the frequencies? What is the best procedure to update and then scan for both digital and analouge channels?

2) How would I assign 19.2e to LNB2 on my switch?

(I am very new to all this and this is the first dish and receiver I have had since Sky analouge in 1997! )

3) Thank-you.

From memory (I dont have my 3000 connected up at the moment) frequency additions are in the transponder edit menu (menu 6 6 1 I think)

You also have to change the disecq switch setting in TWO menu's - not a clever bit of design there from Echostar. Cant remember where they are - as I said earlier its been a while since I used it.

Mine's always in service AS - to drive the dish!

I've got a spare too for emergencies - power supply in the old box is getting a bit tired

My System: echostar ad3000ipva and LIDL SL65 on a Wavefrontier t55. Long live analogue sparkles.

I tried to add new TPs into the box, but, of course, its not as obvious as I thought.

6-6-1 which says that one can add a TP or satellite, but I could not see how to do this. I could scroll down to 4: TP Frequency, but there was no "Add new TP". Can I simply enter the new TP number and H or V and press OK, or will this delete the TP entry that was previously there?

The TPs I would like to have are:
11064 H Canel Algerie
11512 V TV8 Mont Blanc
11456 V TF1 in DVB
11591 V French Television, and some other French channels in DVB
12711 H ABS-CBN (I think its a news channel?)
12615 H T2 (Tapesh that I think is in English...)

/edit:
I tried entering Menu 5-3 Bluebutton, but this sent me back to the Menu 6 6 1 page above

querty14, seems like you're trying to add digital channels in the analogue menu.

Switch to digital (green button) input your TP/polarisation/symbol rate and press OK twice then blue button (scan).

Question

I should have gone with my instincts on this one...

I thought, but was not 100% certain, that entering new TPs would delete the current ones, and this is exactly what happened. The new entry removed channel TMC (Tele Monte Carlo). This was on 11456 V.

I am confused about what a TP means.
I thought that it was a frequency (or block of frequencies centred on a frequency) that held several channels. However, the Echostar unit assigns a TP to an individual channel, which is why TMC has disappeared. The receiver had 11456 V assigned to channel 1, (which displayed TMC). I changed this entry for channel 1 to TP 11512 V, and TMC was gone. The message was "no signal".

I appreciate that this thread has moved a little away from pure analouge discussion, but I would be grateful if you would bear with me. If this place in inappropriate then I can start another one elsewhere.

/edit: HI, Llew - I have just read your reply whilst editing. I did not know there was a difference between the analouge & digital TPs.

ahah.

I have found the different buttons for analouge and digi.

As you noted, the menu asks for :
TP
Polorisation
symbol rate
FEC

I found the TP and polorisation on lyngsat but could not see the symbol rate nor FEC, but I think these are really listed as :
SR-FEC
SID-VPID

If I am correct then:
TV 8 Mont Blanc SR: 203 FEC: 321 Audio: 322 F
I could not see a matching entry for SID-VPID, but since there is no entry on the echostar (that I could see) then I won't worry about it.

I worked out the correct settings from flysat. easier to read:
SR 29947
FEC 7/8
TP 11512 V

However, the digital channel setting on the Echostar only lets me scroll through the current TPs, but I cannot see a way to enter a new one. Which menu is this on?

Yes, you must use the correct menu for each system. This swaps the signal inputs to the appropriate tuner.

You shouldn't lose TMC - I've just added a couple of extra TP's to mine on that bird, TMC remains intact. Maybe your channel data is full in your box; in which case just delete a few unwanted ones on any satellite.
