Awesome, Do you know if it'll be there long. A friend of mine is tired of paying Sky subscription for just eurosport so he wants to find a cheaper alternative without reverting to the dreaded BBCi. Cheers

Nobody can answer that - it could be 3 or 4 years down the line, it could be next month.

Whats wrong with BBCi? get the right receiver and you can tune them like any other channel without having to go through that hellish slow clunky red button interface.

My System: Sky Freesat in UK, Astra 1 ana/dig in UK, Astra 2 South Beam in Spain.

The programmes on astra 1 analogue Eurosport are the German ones but with English commentary. Sky show British Eurosport 1 & 2 and the programmes can be different.

I actually prefer the programming with the Analogue version on Astra 19.2, the only difficulty these days is finding a decent working analogue receiver. There are often a few on Ebay , but given their age, many will not last long.

The problem with bbci is the coverage is that they may show, for example, a whole 5000m race where no-one from the Uk is in it and completely forget an even such as high jump where we had a silver medallist. And the commentators go on for hours about irrelevant ramblings. This was a case from this years olympics.

My old analogue box finally passed away some while ago, so got myself a Technomate 5000 DAPCI (both analogue and digital) from Ebay last year for £40 and it's still going strong.

Yes, bought a couple of them myself on behalf of customers, in fact there's one on Ebay at the moment, but not the P version.

French supermarkets like Bricomart (sp?) still sell new analogue boxes so next time you take a trip over to stock up on wine pick a box

That surprises me Ross, as I haven't seen them in places like Leroy Merlin or any of the big supermarkets like Carrefour or Géant recently.

Cant confirm it personally (its a loooong way to France from here folks ), but I was told this reasonably recently

I may be wrong - the stores may have switched over to TNT Sat boxes instead.

Are there any members having a trip to france could confirm for us one way or the other?

Off subject a little here, does anyone know what PID values are? Im looking into buying a new reciever, the Technomate TM5200D to be precise, and the description says about manually entering PID values.

Programme identification (s) and they are something that only occurs in digital channels.

There are various sorts of pids - audio & video are the main ones, and most frequency sites list them. Most of the time there are no need to manually enter pids - the receiver deals with them automatically.

The Technomate 5200D is a digital box, it will not receive analogue channels.

analoguesat: monitoring Ebay for a 5000 DAPCI is easy; finding time to go to France is hard.

My System: 1 triax 80cm, smart dual output monobloc LNB @ 13E and 19.2E 1 minidish, quad LNB @ 28.2E Fortec Star 4200 set-top Metronic Original analogue set-top Hauppage Nova S+ x2 Compro Videomate 350 x1 2x WinXP PCs running GBPVR

Don't bother with eBay- you can get a brand new Metronic analogue "original" box for £23!

_http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/236264/art/metronic/analogue-demodulator-orig.html

Does a good job for me and also runs cool to boot. Even if Europsort only lasts a couple more years, this is value for money in my book. Then you can use it as a handy doorstop!

I would still go for the Ebay option, as you will have the digital channels as well as the analogue ones. You will receive the German digital version of Eurosport which is exactly the same as the English analogue one, apart from the language of course. However, you would have to find something else to use as a door stop though when analogue finally disappears!

My System: WinXP/Firefox 85cm Transparent dish and 3 LNB's One diseqc to Sky Star 2, and one diseqc to TM1500 and looped to a very old Pace MSS100 analog box

I want programmes that BBC would never cover, such as the Roller Ski champs this weekend. I watch it on the backroom TV on a analogue Pace box on a RF loop from the digital TM1500 box, and long may it continue.

But, being greedy I'd like to watch it quietly on this PC screen upstairs.
Here I've got SkyStar2 digital and can get Eurosport on 19E with German commentary on my ProgDVB program.
When I recently re installed ProgDVB I saw on the setup screen the chance to click a button to receive Analogue TV.

Could that mean Analogue Sat TV and is there a way for me to get Analogue Sat TV displayed on the ProgDVB program?
Could I split the incoming signal between SS2 and a new Hauppage analogue pci card (if there is one) using a A/B switch?

I bought one of these last week. I'm pleased with it overall.
The only issues I have are
- a very slightly soft picture (but still much nicer than dvb!)
- no tunable audio, and 6.50 is not included as a preset
- a software bug where, if you disable its "pseudo-panda" audio de-emphasis, or tune to a preset channel which uses J17 or 50us instead, you have to turn the receiver to standby, and then back on again to get it back.

But it's still *much* better than my Conrad Electronics "eurosky" branded receiver.

I noticed that mine was pretuned and only had English language for Eurosport. To be honest, I find the setup systep a bit confusing, because there is no OSD. I have a monobloc LNB and I always need to hit the toneburst button three times before I get Europsort up. I tried saving the settings, but it doesn't seem to stick. But none of these are major problems.

I think that the analogue pic quality is amazing, though miss the digital sound. I get a few minor "sparklies", but can't be bothered to do any adjustments, as the issue is not that bad (even in a downpour).

I just hope that Eurosport stays live for at least a couple more years.
