Unhappy 2010 going to be a bad year for closedowns

ARD are planning to remove all their analogue services from 19E by the end of 2010

_http://www.digitalfernsehen.de/news/news_612069.html

(Das Erste, WDR, SWR BW/RP, NDR, Bayerisches Fernsehen, MDR, hr, rbb, 3sat, arte, KiKa, Phoenix, BR-alpha)

Id say we will see more closedowns announced for 2010 - its not going to be worth the smaller channels hanging around once the main psb channels have gone.

You and a lot of others nelson_b, my brother has enjoyed the analogue Eurosport now for several years, has it set up as an extra channel on his analogue TV as he is really into cycling, hope they continue the english language version when it goes digital.

Eurosport is broadcasting in digital on Hot Bird 13E in several languages, but not FTA.
They have English audio. (ESP Int'l and ESP2 on the Eutelsat platform)
Or am I missing something here (sorry I don't catch astra)

Eurosport analogue on 19E carries an English soundtrack. None of the fta digtal releases has English as a language option

Sorry Analoguesat, I still don't see the difference.
As I mentioned, the digital channels are not FTA, if this is the real problem.

Yes - thats what folk are wanting - a fta English audio soundtrack on one of the digital version. Realistically its not going to happen

They can hear the English audio for free with a black screen.
I think it is one of the mysteries of Cryptowork or is it Seca?
(At least I can hear it with the 7000S).
A Polsat subscription includes all ESP and ESP2 channels with different languages.

Not really helpful HB, but it hasn't happened yet, so need to get too concerned.

More 2010 closures likely - The RTL & Proseiben groups are looking to shut down their services......

_http://www.tvdigital.de/news/2008/11/19/privatsender-offen-fur-analog-tv-ausstieg/

Assuming this goes ahead the combined total channel closures of the PSB & private channels will be well over 20 so far!
