My System: IpBox 200s
Pace MSS500 doesn't start

Hi,
today when i was cleaning my basement i found my old satellite receiver, and of course it doesn't work.
This fault started a long time ago after a power failure, the power supply was fixed but the receiver never worked again.
When i plug it in, it shows "RESTORE E2" for a brief moment and doesn't respond to anything, only the red remote indicator on LCD lights up when i press any button on remote.
Is there anyway to reset or fix this problem?
Any ideas?

As it's been out of commission for a while, have a check inside for loose/dirty connectors (power supply, microcontroller daughter board socket etc.)

If i can still remember been a long time since i used a pace receiver, the reset procedure was something like this on the pace mss series, from the remote handset

MENU,
0,
STORE,
RIGHT ARROW,
LEFT ARROW

then it should flash RESTORE E2 on the front display

Like Llew advised you open the receiver double check everything, could also be a dry solder around the mico since it anit been used for a long time.

The Pace 500 suffers from dried out capacitors. Can you hear a cicking noise.

It does make one click when i plug in power, I think it's just a relay.
Trying to reset using remote don't do any good.
I did open it, checked everything i could (cables, cpu connector etc).
Strange thing is it shoes "restore e2" when i plug the the power, not after trying to reset. No to mention none of the button doesn't seem to react.

For the time you might spend on any further investigation, then the repair, and then connecting up to find about 20 channels available, it is probably worth looking at the cheap digital receivers and a motor converter, unless you want to splash out on a DiSEqC system straight away.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

I already have a digital receiver (IpBox200s), if i could revive this old pace, i could set up a rotor dish using my pace as controller.
