So what's left then?

I was just wondering what's actually left in Analogue on the ol' birds, I know Hispasat only has cuatro (why only one channel I have no idea!!!), but what else is there in the clear with no encryption?

Yep, this one's for Analoguesat...

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E /19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

Really 2cv. You know the answer to that one as well as I do

_http://www.analoguesat.co.uk

has all the answers

Theres about 40-50 tps still active. Mainly on 19E and 5W these days. 13E is fading fast, with 42E & 1W having gone all digital fairly recently.

My System: Various

Badr C at 26 east still has a good selection of channels on analogue C-band especially MBC and One TV which show a lot of English language films.

More recently a promo for Al Jazeera Intl has started on analogue.

I just had a nosey on Analoguesat's website, and according to him (so if the info is wrong, it's his fault!!! ), there are only 5 satellites that we can get in the UK that are carrying analogue transmissions, it's fading fast!!!

So it's as follows:

8W - Atlantic Bird 2
5W - Atlantic Bird 3
13E - Hotbird cluster
19.2E - Astra1 cluster
23.5E - Astra 1D on it's todd

Not much left, soon most analogue boxes will be as useful as a chocolate teapot, and will join the realms of D2MAC....

Bloomin' digital, it's no fun!!!

Of course its not wrong you cheeky whippersnapper

30W was the moist recent one to fall off the analogue list when Cuatro upped sticks.

Quite why 8W is still going is anyones guess, and my guess is that 23E is only going as a tuning aid.

Analogue will be around for a few more years although if theres much left by 2010 I will be amazed - the transponder capacity is far too valuable to be squandered on a solitary signal- especially on places like 13E where we know capacity is getting tight.

There is still a bit of C-band stuff going but even that is fading fast now
