Newsgroups

Just added the newsgroup uk.tech.digital-tv to the Miscellaneous forum. At the moment you can only view post's (No Posting).

I will see how it runs over the next few weeks and may add more newsgroups, and also may allow posting.

We have NO control over what is posted in the newsgroups so please enter at own risk !!!

Feedback please.

Hell Chris et al

The wonders of technology - will our little Forum one day become a One Stop Paradise where we can access everything we need.

Hope so, 'cause as the old ratchet of time screws interminably downward, anything which make life a bit simpler is a premium - see another posting about recent 3x speed on BB.

Good wishes to all

W. Hole.

PS. When am I going to find the time to listen to all this music I am downloading [legitimately of course]

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

I would be inclined to put it as a subsection of the DTT section Chis, this is one of the more sensible newsgroups, not sure I'd like to see many of the others, don't like their manners or language.

PS. Have separated the Terrestrial into a competely new section.

Just set-up a new newsgroup server so we should now see the full list of threads from the uk.tech.digital-tv newsgroup.

Also you can now post to the uk.tech.digital-tv newsgroup, but it may take up to 1 hour for your message to appear on the newsgroup.

Looks good Chris, will give some members a chance to see what it is like in the wild world of Usenet.

Must confess that it isn't my favourite news medium anymore, bit to argumentative and rude for my liking, but can be quite interesting at times.

As Chris warns elsewhere, we have no control on the language or content on these groups, so expect to see more than the odd bit of bad language and flaming.

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

I must admit I'm not too keen wading through multiple copies of earlier postings. I much prefer this format.

Is the newsgroups section still in use? - 4 of them dont seem to have any posts on them at all, which is silly as 2 of them are high traffic groups..

OK sorted the problem a scheduled task was not running to collect the newsgroup data.

You should start to see some messages appearing over the next 48 hours as it collects all the new posts.

Newsgroups should now be excluded from the last 24 hours threads listing.
