3rd Server ready to go

Finally, we have decided to add a 3rd server to the Sats UK network. We have ordered a new, MUCH powerful server, and now it is already online (we are loading it with all the needed software).

The server spec is-

single Xeon Clovertown E5320, 4x 1.86G cores, 2x 4M L2
Supermicro X7DVL-E dual socket 771 Server board
2-Gig DDR2-667 ECC FBDIMM, 2x 1G, 4x open
1 x WD 80-Gig SATA, 7200rpm
on-board Intel ICH7R 4x SATA Ports
on-board Intel Dual Gb NIC ports
on-board ATI ES1000 Video, 16M RAM
24x slim CD-ROM, no floppy
Supermicro 1U SC811T-420B rackmount chassis
supermicro 2U 420-watt Power supply
1U rail kit

The new server will be serving web pages at some point over this weekend and we dont expect any downtime

We hope that everyone will like the new server!

My thought exactly AS, let's hope voluntary donations increase to help pay for it.

My System: Philips 42" Plasma TV, Amstrad Sky digibox, XC Cube windows media centre PC.

The 3rd server was added at 2:20 am this morning, It may take up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to propagate around the net so at some point today all users should enjoy the speeds from the new server.

Chris.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

These are the older two alex, we'll get Tim to take a photo of the third one as well.

The top two are ours, the middle one being the database server, this is of course now feeds the new server for Satellites.co.uk.

What do you want to run?

Whilst we own the servers, they are hosted at a server farm in the states, as we have neither the specialist knowledge on setting up and trouble shooting, nor a trunk line onto the internet.
