Snell 500 thx speakers & plasma tv

Hi
Just bought a set of Snell 500 THX speakers but I dont have the user guide.
Does anyone know where I could find info on these speakers.
Also I dont know if they are magneticaly shielded. As I intend to use them close to a plasma tv can anyone tell me if plasmas are effected by speakers ?
I dont fancy moving one close enough to the tv to find out the hard way

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

Plasma TVs aren't affected by magentic fields.

Did you try a google search?

Tried this site but this model range is not listed. I think the speakers are quite old. Spent hours on google & found nothing usefull.
I have emailed their customer support to see if they can help me.
Good to know that plasma TV's are not damaged by magnetic fields though.

Are they these speakers:

Are they the front or rear speakers from the 500 range (the rear surrounds are di-pole)? The top post for "snell 500 thx" on google is currently yours

Yes I read the reviews & these sound like what I have. There are three front speakers , two di-pole surrounds & two passive 550 subs

What are you looking for in the user guide?

I haven't seen them but in your AV amp I'd set the size for the fronts to small (the subs will deal with LF) and put the rears in line with your seated position i.e. on a line through your ears, at about 5 ft. high, as this is a good place for dipole surrounds. And then set the distance to seated postion in your AV amp setting.

What im looking for is this
The LCR 500's have 2 sets of binding posts on the back & a sticker that reads "Right terminals for normal operation Left terminals compensated see manual before use"
There is also a dial that says "Front tweeter optimal at upright"
So I wanted to know what the componsation on the left terminals was also how powerfull an amp I would need to drive the two passive subs

I have no experience of passive subs and those are very specific questions to your speakers. I suggest you email Snell customer support.

You can never had too big an amp(s) - stops it clipping when driven hard and destroying your drivers. As they're passive you're probably going to need to take the sub pre-out from the AV amp into a splitter and then into a 2-channel amp and run each amp from one channel (plus a sound meter to get the levels correct). This is a rough guess - I'm sure there are a million guides on google on how to power passive subs.

Got a reply back fom snell & it seems that the componsated terminals are to do with speaker placement. They reduce the lower portion of the frequency response for placing closer to walls.
