scart to vga lead

Hi guys,
I am thinking of buying an HD satellite box to replace my SD digibox but a potential problem has cropped up with the connection of the leads.

My tv is a Hitachi 42PD5300 which has a Audio Visual Control box for connecting all the leads from my sat boxes, DVD recorder etc. From this box there is single DVI connection to the plasma screen.

The problem is I cannot run the new HD satbox through the AVC box. Although the plasma display (PD5000) is HD ready the AVC box is not (even though the tv package was advertised by Hitachi as HD ready).

I would like to connect my new HD box directly to the plasma as it has a DVI output. The problem is then how do I connect my DVD recorder to the plasma?

The only other inputs directly into the plasma are a RGB2 analog (D-sub 15 pin VGA connection) and a RS 232C connection. Is it possible to connect from the scart of the DVD to one of these connections?
