My System: Sony kdl40w5500
Unhappy Please Help!!! New to HD tv

Hi, I just bought a sony kdl40w5500 tv and a humax freesat hd box, tried to connect the hdmi cable from freesat box to tv HDMI 1, when I press tv control to HDMI 1, no picture was showed, only black screen, then I use scart cable instead, it's works fine, so what have I done wrong? Or I need to change the setting on freesat box and TV or some problem with my tv and freesat box? Please Please give me some ideal, becsue I though my sony tv would automatic detect the HDMI signal?

Should be somewhere in your Freesat box menu to change the output to HDMI. You'll need to have the HDMI lead connected when changing the output whilst still connected via your scart lead, or you'll most likely have another blank screen.

Try powering down everything and starting again from scratch, I have heard of a lot of Humax boxes failing to provide TV outputs straight out of the box.

Sounds like a faulty lead, but it could be a faulty input on the TV, only trying another HDMI source will give you the answer.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
