I have a Toshiba Back projection 42" TV and the screen was getting dusty after some building work.... i cleaned it with soapy water and a cloth, but its gone streaky ![]() i dont want to try anything too strong in case it damages the screen (only plastic) as anyone will know who owns one, the screen is full of little grooves that make cleaning a pain in the backside. any tips guys?

My System: DreamBox 7000s - Nokia Freeview - Several GameBoys - DS Lite - ZX81 - SNES - N64 - Sega Saturn Dreamcast - PlayStation - Gamecube - PSP - iPod - iPhone - XBox - PS3 - Wii - No Life! | I use this - but it's not safe for work! Just move your cursor round the screen (requires shockwave plug-in) http://mirrored.flabber.nl/boob.cursor/ciagnijcycka.swf Seriously what you have done so far is what I would have used. Unfortunately it's just a very long job of cleaning and drying an area at a time. If you concentrate on an area about 600mm square - spend some time on it - check it and you'll see the difference. Well worth it in the end - wouldn't use anything but mild soap and water and a clean cloth to dry it. Nothing with heat as that could effect the plastic!

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S ![]() The last noble sat warrior to fly the olden flag of Analogue | Next time try a soft bristle 2" paintbrush to flick the dust out of the grooves. Ive used iso-propanol quite safely to clean plastics at work, but you would need to test a tiny area first "just in case"

Luckily it was still under the Comet warrenty, which was good because the same 3 year old then hit the screen with a plastic teddy, and put a crack in the screen lol comet replaced the screen free of charge, but the guy that came out told me the screen should have cost £300 OMG!!! so now im being careful

| If you have had building work, there is a good chance the dust has also got into the internals, and coated both the three gun lenses, and the primary mirror. Everything will need cleaning, without this, both focussing and brilliance will be affected. Use a compressor to get rid of as much dust from the glass parts, and then opticians cloths, only use liquid is there is residue that cannot be moved as there may be coatings applied at the factory.
