Seeking PVR for Sky and astra1 19.2

I have a working sky box and viewing card, but I would like to find a receiver with PVR that I can easily load with the UK Sky channels and the Astra1 19.2 German channels (I am in Germany).
What is the card slot type so that I can look for a suitable model ?
Can anyone suggest any manufacturers/models that would do the job ?

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

If you want one which will work with the Sky card and update it, then a Dreambox is probably your only real choice.

ok. not much choice yet then.
On 2nd thoughts, I think getting an HD receiver with no recorder, as long as I can still use my Sky viewing card in it. Any suggestions ?
And what is the card slot called so that I can search for some ?

It is all down to keeping the Sky card alive and at the moment as far as I know, only the Dreambox will do that and the HD version is not yet released.

The receiver needs to be able to decrpyt NDS Videoguard. The only official way is using a Sky digibox.

There are other receivers such as the Vantage(I believe), and Octagon , and also CAMs such as the Diablo and Trex.
But none of them keep the card alive as far as I know.

Have you considered recording with DVD recorder with HDD instead of PVR receiver ?
This way you can record to the hard disk of the recorder and make a DVD out of the contents that you wish to keep.
With a PVR the hassle to make a DVD is too time consuming.
I use a Pioneer model and I am quite pleased with it. My Dreambox has a hard disk but I rarely use it nowadays.

Hi Neil,

what Sky Box do you have? Like the poster above, I'd recommend using an HDD DVD Recorder if you have a Panasonic Digibox - in fact the external link feature of panasonic DVD Recorders means that the Panasonic Sky box will turn on and off the recorders as and when you set programs to be watched. It's sort of like Sky+ but without the tenner a month.....
