Faulty pace boxes???

Can someone help with a slight problem.

On my 28.2e satellite I have been using a technomate box with a trex cam and a s*y Ftv card to view channel 4&5 etc, for two years and every 6 weeks or so we have to put it into a mates satellite box to keep the "stay alive signal" working.

I have recently purchased a second hand s*y box pace box 1.18.6.. version 9f0402 s*y box from fleebay however it will not pick up channel 4 or 5.

Also when we go to channel list there are no channels listed, however we can input the frequencys and get sky news and a few other FTA channels but we can only access these through the other channel menu.???

When we imput the channel 4 and 5 frequencies it will find the channels but when we try to view them it sys there is a problem with your card, message 02.??

Having read the other threads on this forum we have tried to leave it plugged in, tuned into sky news and also reboot the box.

When we go to system details it says there is no card. Ive seen others asked others with similar problems

/////

SO we brought another box (Pace model no 2.1.28E) (version no 9f0402) which will come on for a couple of seconds and then say no satellite signal being recieved. even on sky news or any other FTA ,However does seem to accept our ftv card.

Have i just been lucky and brought 2 faulty boxes of fleebay????or can anyone help~advise ?? thanks

My System: Mostly gathering dust cos I'm a lazy git. Porty dish face blew off the mount, not too pleased...

The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken!

Could be outdated OS software, what's the OS version number?

Also, the box models should be on the bottom or back of the box, something like 2200, 2600, etc...

My System: technomate diseq 1500ci+ ibm thinkpad

have you tried a forced software upgrade:-

with stb and tele on
press backup button on box (keep button depressed)
remove power lead from back of box (if hardwired switch off)
return power lead to box (switch on)
keep backup button depressed until all lights on front of box illuminate
when this happens release button
message on tele screen should say:- "downloading latest software do not switch off blah blah blah!!!

then retry your box

regards dave

I think the answer is in the title of your thread "faulty'
They must have been dirt cheap, the Pace 2500 is really old.
You have one with a faulty card reader, the second one has a major problem somewhere.
Even when they work, the Pace 2500 was the least sensitive sky box Pace ever made. A big problem in Lanazarote.
Why didn't you buy a Pace 430n? They can be had for around £30 Much more reliable.

pace box

no wonder the box was faulty ie second hand. in the end it was no good trying to save money. the sky boxes on Ebay seem to go for anything from £20 to £50 some appear to be new but older models. there are also a lot of second hand ones that are infact rejects that sky have sold because they are either faulty or an old model that they have ended up with a van full of them and sold them at auction
