Sky subscriptions???????

I live in France, but also have an address in the UK that I could use to get a Sky subscription. I currently have a freesat card from Sky, but want to upgrade to be able to get E4, More4, Virgin etc. Do I need a Sky subscription to be able to get these channels.

I see on the adverts that sky do a deal for £16 a month for sky and Broadband, but obviously I won't be needing the broadband as I live in France. What's the cheapest deal that Sky do that would allow me to receive the extra channels that I'm after and is it possible to pay an annual fee at the start instead of paying monthly?

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

15 quid a month for the entertainment mix, up to 21 quid a month for 6 mixes. No you cant pay an annual fee.

My System: Sky Freesat in UK, Astra 1 ana/dig in UK, Astra 2 South Beam in Spain.

Have a look on the Sky web site. It's a minimum of two mixes at the moment for £17 a month. I would imagine that you could pay annually if you want to. Or you could hang on for this new BBC freesat which is supposed to start shortly, it will maybe have the stations you want on it, and cost you nothing. Hopefully you will be able to pick that up in France OK.

If you were to sign on with SKY and have a permanent address that you can use in the UK (or Ireland) there is no problem. BUT, you won't be able to use one of the heavily subsidised boxes that SKY either give away or self for next to nothing. Get a box from fleabay, call sky and tell them you have a box from before (from your UK number of course) and they will send you a card. You then need to activate the card through your receiver so you just give them a call again (either from your UK number or hide caller ID from abroad) and that's it...

I pay via Direct Debit every month through my Irish account in Ireland, but you could as easily pay via Credit Card. Not sure about pre payments though as prices have a tendancy to change and it also looses some control from SKY.

Thanks for the info!

I have a spare sky+ box lying around. Am I right in thinking that you now get free sky+ features with any sky subscription or is there still a £10 charge for sky+.

I had a look at the freesat website, but I don't think that they will be offering the channels that I want, because I think C4 and C65 still have a contract with sky to encrypt the broadcast and I think that will include E4 and the other channels that I'm after.

I'm going to be back in the UK for a few months, so I guess I can wait until Freesat is launched and see what channels they offer. I have a FTA digital receiver already, so I guess that will be OK for getting freesat???????

Cheers,

My System: TM6800HD+TD110+StabHH90 motor,TM1000D+Orbital 1m Multifeed 16E,23E,28E.DigitAlB movies. A Bigsat BS-S77CX and a Sky Dodgibox.

Yes, a normal FTA box will be OK for Freesat, you just won't have the fancy epg.

Yes the Sky+ comes free with a Sky sub, but £10 if not.

Ch4 is expected to go FTA later in the year, although it is rumoured that it will be FTA at Freesat launch.
